FAULT LINE

Felt it was too good to be true

Something  so familiar yet so new

The moment prior to the fall

Me and you stood pretty tall

The grounds around are all falling down

Why did I have to come to this fuckin town

I take most of the blame

Not good enough to hide from your aim

I’d take it all just to not disappoint

I’m not holier than though to anoint

Anoint a voice of reason in all this chaos

Depth defined by pain

The foundation not built to withstand the strain

Oh I’ll hurt, that’s given

What comes back will be driven

You can’t hit what you can’t find

Hard to see the heart from behind

Only a flesh wound anywhere but there

Intense yes, but always fair

You must have an abundance of these

Nonchalantly threw away the keys

Stumbled out of the gate

Someone intervene before it’s too late

I know it hasn’t been easy for you

Salt in the wounds  have eroded any blood to the heart

I can’t stand to be apart

Bloodthirst for revenge has become your guiding light

Consumed with just wanting to be right

Overplayed a really good hand

Thought you knew the lay of the land

Sitting by the river side

Waiting for an easy ride

Path of least resistance

Decompression has become my obsession

Words of wisdom

Turn to hanging off the knowlEDGE

Moments of silence and solitude served us well

The crack in the earth where we both fell

Strike the match to create a spark

Blame shifts causing human rifts

The good outweighed  the bad

Makes me reflect on what we had

The fracture of all we kept sacred

Fissure needs to heal from the hatred

The Fault line lies in your eyes

Sadness in the thought of goodbyes
