I saw that too!  Glad I kept mine.  It's crazy to see the increasing value in some of these posters!  Tis the season to spend cash though.

I as at that show and by passed that poster as I thought it wasn't appealing..... to each their own.  The price(s) that some are willing to pay for concert art work is staggering.

The day can't be far away that concert posters are sold for $60+ at shows.... and perhaps they'll drop of still available at show's end.

Indeed.  Wonder what a mint one goes for now.

Someone recently bought one of the "Buy it now" Kongs on ebay.  I checked yesterday, and it was on there.  It was the framed one, with the red matting.

The day also can’t be far away that this ridiculous poster “bubble” pops and people are left with posters that have a fraction of value of the secondary market price they paid.

I saw that one... it said best offer accepted so I wonder what the final price ended up being.

I love my Kong and its a great memory from a show I was at, but if I hadn't managed to swing a trade for it a few years ago I would never pay that much for a poster.  The most I ever paid for a poster was $300 and couldn't ever see going much higher than that.

That's already happening to the Cracker Jacks and 13 Pitts.  I believe that the group of people searching for them have all found one for a pricey amount, and there are sellers out there still trying to make a big profit off them.  With that being said, there will always be the 98 PJ posters that will hold their value, but that's my two cents.

Not really. For the most part, concert posters tend to start off low and rise over time (Kong is a perfect example - right after the show, and even for months after these were selling on ebay for like $89), or start extremely high and nosedive (see 2005 SA Klausen).

And I wouldn't say the bubble "burst" on the CJ and Pitt. They both still sell in the $700-$1000 range, respectively. Just because a few people were paying $1200-1500+ for a short span doesn't mean that a slight drop means the bubble burst.

98s will absolutely hold their value. Honestly, I'm shocked when a NM one sell for under $1k, they're just that hard to find at all, much less in good condition. Very limited print runs, the poster collecting market (at least for PJ) wasn't the same as it is now, and a lot of people just thumbtacked them to their walls, which is why you see so many in poor condition, but they still sell well.

It also helps that all the 98 PJ posters have really great designs and artwork too.

98 is the pinnacle.  After that there’s some great pieces here and there but mostly stuff that id never frame

I'd agree to an extent. Post-98 included more artists contributing to PJ concert posters which introduced us to ones like Emek, Munk One, BK, etc. Previous and including 98, it was almost ALL Ames. I still like Ames, but the last decade+ they've definitely had more duds than winners. It's nice to have a different artist doing each show, or at least more than a handful for each tour.

Been to 50 shows post 98 and the only three posters that I ve framed are Thomas Fenway, Toronto 1 2011 (my wife s first show) and Hartford 2010.  Nothing else really interested me so I tend to agree with you.

Most Pearl Jam posters (to me) are too off beat to hang around the house, so my wife and I have agreed I get the office on the first floor to hang whatever I want.  So I currently have 19 posters matted, framed and up on the walls in there.  I probably have room for about 5 more and I only hang stuff right now from shows I've attended.  While individually some of them are a little "out there" collectively they make a pretty impressive statement.  I get a lot of "wows" when people come over and poke their heads inside the room.
