as with camden, you know the playing field..it's up to you to decide whether to attend or not...if you choose to go, remember, you're not on Bourbon Street..meaning that drinking in public is probably against the law...if you can't do the time, don't do the crime....

the cops were real hardasses in Mansfield. a totally different scene from Hartford. in Hartford, as long as you didnt cause any problems, the cops didnt care about you drinking. you could hold up a open bottle and wave they'd just wave back and drive by. in Mansfield, they investigated each tailgater one by one to see what you were drinking. there were about a dozen twentysomethings tailgating next to me at Mansfield 1. they kept to themselves and didnt cause any trouble. but the cops busted on the scene, and before i knew it they had all of them sitting against one of their cars, and one got taken away (i presume he wasn't 21). so the cops were the only ones causing a disturbance here. everyone was having a good time, and then the cops came in and buzzkilled everyone as we had to watch the 'crime scene' unfold. it was good half hour before they left them alone and went on to bugging everyone else.

maybe you should read all of those comments and then respond. The uproar has less to do with beer consumption and more to do with the first ammendment.

That was actually Mansfield 2, Kenny. Remember Mansfield 1 was when the cops made you and Jim put the cooler inside Jackie's truck while us gals were in it... um, talking. ;)

Anyhoo... the cops at Great Woods are ridiculous! I have my own issues with the Mansfield police (they shot and killed my brother's best friend 7 times - twice in the head)... but they are most definitely notorious for overreacting.

I'll think twice about tailgating there again...
  • I heard how strict they were for DMB in mansfield a few weeks prior to PJ, so i was not sure if it was worth it to tailgate before PJ, as i heard stories of how they confiscated tickets before the show.

We did tailgate, just had to hide the booze before the guards came by, it was pretty bizzare. but i liked how eddie made a comment at the 1st pj show about the tailgating, i thought that was pretty funny.

I noticed at hartford, people were drinking like nobody's business, out in the open in bottles, and everything an no one cared, will definately go to a hartford show again, but mansfield is only 15 min. away from me so it is just so conveient not to go...

plus hartford, curfew is way later.

we were drinking in the carpark, and pretty close to the venue entrance as well
we were not hasseled by the police, they didnt even come near us, but all of the beer was in the Esky, empty bottles hidden in a bag, and we were drinking from cups.
i saw police taking several people away, but the vibe was very chilled with all of the tailgaters

inside is a different matter, and the venue policy sucked.
I am from australia, and i had my drivers licence that clearly showed that i am 25, and it is a government issue ID, but they wanted to see my passport, which of course i did not take to the concert with me, i had a friend who is even older, and the same thing happened to them.
in the end our US friends got us beer inside, but not before one was asked for a 2nd form of ID because he was from out of state (CT)

After the 2nd night, we continued to tailgate for over an hour waiting for the carpark to empty, and again we had no troubles.

in Hartford we were drinking from bottles infront of the ticket office and nothing happened to us there!!

  • I was on the way to a Charlotte show (moving out of my college dorm from University of South Carolina, same day as the show) and had a cooler in my passenger seat with clothes and dvd's stored away in it. I got a ticket for illegally displaying a cooler...
