For those who scoff at "Jamily" in my name... 9 years ago, when my first daughter was born there were jokes about whether my priority would be my family or PJ. I smiled and quipped "I am a JamilyMan." What was a family joke became a hated term among jammers. Didn't see that one coming!
They said, they were down at Dobbs last night and no Ed... they have NO INFO on Ed being in Philly or playing a show but "you still never know, if could happen tonite." That's all....

5/23/2011- An utter embarrassment... ticketing failures too many to list.
Why announce this on the radio? Could have potentially been an awesome night but now it's gonna be an overcrowded mess. Speculation leads to hysteria.
Because the rumor got to WMMR means someone called someone or Matt reads the message board...still someone from there couldve called someone in PJ camp to confirm..since they didnt confirm or deny doesnt mean it will/wont happen..I might head down just for the hell of it

Matt is on the board and lives close to South Street. He could have just walked over to Dobbs himself last night and saw that nothing was going on.

he did. I listened to the podcast. He was hanging out at dobbs from 4-6 yesterday then realized it wasn't happening. I also drove by last night at 5:45 and 10pm and the place was closed with no one there, so I went home.
I ended up there Friday night...Like a sucker. Though from what I was told by a good source it was close to happening.
I almost bought a ticket to those bands on the bill, just in case word got on to the message board and people swarmed Dobbs.
The more I thought about it, though, it didn't really make sense for Ed to just pop in for a truly "secret" show. So I went to bed early and saved my energy for DC.

I am kind of glad Ed didn't come to Philly... I mean Philly fans are great and all but surely there would be a few drunken idiots yelling.... I'm glad my city didn't get the opportunity to shame itself in Eddie's eyes.
Nah, the good thing was that O'Neal's was across the street, and I went over to Dobbs at like 12:15 and it was free to go in. The thing is a bartender I know at O'Neal's em-cee's the bands over there and he was told "he couldn't say" whether he was coming. And I said "So he is coming then is what you're saying?" He went on to tell me that they had equipment set up for him to play because the last dude who played on Fri. night has apparently the same agent as Eddie and the owner of the bar got in contact with Eddie's "people". They were told that Eddie was in NYC having dinner with people and he was interested in driving down to check out Dobbs since he heard it was re-opening. Maybe he heard people caught on to the rumor or something I dunno. All I know is I walked passed Dobbs at like 8 and there were a bunch of PJ heads standing out front. I just went over to O'Neal's and drank all night. The dude who em-cee's told me if I see him leave then I should go over because all he was waiting for was a phone call.

That's just a dumb statement. Anyway, if he did show up around 1230 it would've been pretty chill cause there was no one left there except for one dude I saw in there wearing a PJ shirt. The rest were there just for the dude who played onstage. Other than that some other friends of the em-cee wanted to hang out because he told them as well. Thing that sucked was Dobbs doesn't start serving alcohol until Sept. 1st so they were kicking people out by 1245.
