Looking for nice fans/locals in Newark

Two of us are flying from Pittsburgh to the Newark show on the 7th. We're thrilled! But, we're spending all our money just to get there, and we totally have fly back at 6am on the 8th to get to back to work. So basically, we're going to be hanging around Newark like hobos from the time the show ends till our flight leaves the next morning.

Any locals want to give us some advice? Are there any all-night diners we can crash in? Is it easy to get a cab in the middle of the night? I guess we're hoping the airport's doors are open 24 hours so we can sleep at our gate.

Anyone else doing this? Want to hang out?

Andy: http://www.myspace.com/dyingtree

Thanks!

I suggest just heading top the airport after the show, or maybe if theres some kind of official after party heading to that. I wouldnt hang out on the streets of newark after a show, especially in that neighborhood.
Im a million miles away from home and I cant find a telephone...

    Hi Joline,
I'm two towns away from Newark, so hoping I can help. I agree with the other poster, your safest bet is probably to hang out at the airport. If your flight's at 6, probably reasonable to get there around 4, so you'd really only have to leave the city of Newark around 3:30 anyways.

Meantime, I would hang out at the NJ PAC as long as they'll let you.

If you can bum a ride or grab a cab, take a quick ride up route 21 and across the bridge (check a map, it's just north of the theater) to Tops Diner in Harrison. 24 hours, some of the best food around, and on a weeknight you can get a away with just some coffee and they'll let you hang out.

I would avoid hanging out on the streets as much as possible. Conversely to the diner thing, just follow the crowd, ask around, see if there are any post-show parties or bar meet-ups in the area. Best to stay in a group:)

(my Google map link didn't work, but type in NJ PAC, Newark, NJ with directions to Tops Diner, Harrison, NJ, it's about .7 mile)

I'm from Newark and I would not advice hanging out in the streets of Newark after the show. My girlfriend and I are heading over to a bar not far from NJPAC, called Hell's Kitchen, after the show for a drink or two. You guys are more than welcome to join us. After that I would advice you to hop a cab and head to the airport. Not much to do in Newark after the bars close.

The invite to Hell's Kitchen goes out to all who are attending. The bar is a about 7 blocks from NJPAC and it is about 3 blocks from the train/PATH/bus station. It's a pretty cool place to just grab a drink and relax.

Born and raising in the Ironbound section. I live in Bayonne now but I lived in Newark for most of my life.

I lived in North Arlington just until 6 months ago.
