GWB to NYC shows...Yes or No

Hello all.
This question is for anyone that took the GWB from New Jersey to EV NYC I: how long did it take to cross the bridge? and what time did you leave? Me and my boyfriend are trying to decide whether we should take the tunnel and a train or the GWB? I know the GWB might seem like the obvious but in the past we have had horrible luck.

Any advise or information would be appreciated,
Thanks!

I left Philly at 3:15 and got to the GWB at 5 and there was no traffic at all. I literally waited like 2 minutes to pay the toll because I hate EZ Pass and was at the venue 5 minutes later.

    Hope that helps.

There were no lines in any of them. There were maybe 5 cars in front of me at the toll booth.

I talked to my friend from NYC and asked if that was normal. And he said no but the reason probably that there was no traffic on the GWB is that the Yankees are on the road this week.

It was also luck. The GWB leads into the Cross-Bronx Expressway and nine times out of 10, the Cross-Bronx is a disaster and the congestion in the Bronx often carries over to the bridge. Basically I'm saying leave as early as you can just you're settled in and aren't stressing out over possible traffic.

Thanks! Yeah, that is what we are going to try to do, we figure atleast if we take the GWB we will get out of there quicker. :)

I drove in too, and there was no prob. with traffic. But I did have trouble finding parking. Get there early enough so you won't be stressed. And there's a pre-party/fundraiser at Coogan's which is only 6 blocks away at 169th and Broadway. Enjoy the show tonight!! (wish I was going too)

    my suggestion?

park in jersey, and take the bus over. there is a huge municple lot about 100 yards from the toll booths that is cheap as hell. walk to the bus stop which is on the mouth of the bridge entrance (only costs $1, and is a 30 second walk from the parking lot), and it takes you over the bridge to the 175th street bus terminal. and from there it is about a 3 block walk to the theatre.

it's a time and headache saver.

I may be wrong about this, but I'd say GWB to NYC shows is a definite no.
Just listen to last night's Masters of War.
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.
  • I live 1 mile south of the GWB; it took me 10 minutes to get to the theatre. Maybe less, actually but no traffic at all yesterday.

GWB is definitely a yes. exit 1 to 178th. right on brodway. 3 blocks to the theatre. street parking.

  • I live in hackensack and drove in after work - took me 15 minutes to get there, no traffic at all. I was amazed!! The way home took a little longer, not due to traffic but due to waiting FOREVER to get my car out of the garage - there were soooooo many people waiting.

BUT... once I was in my car it was a breeze, another 15 minute ride! :)

Wish I was going again tonight, but I wasn't able to get tix to this one! ;)
