If you ask the European touring regulars, most of us would say Düsseldorf was the overall best show of the '07 tour.

I was at the London show last year, and what a show it was! Myself and 3 others made it to four shows during last year's tour, and London was the first. We went to the pre-party the night before and met so many great people. It was such a blast when Better Man came on in the bar and everyone was singing!
The day of the show was lovely, finally getting to meet people i'd spoken to for so long on the forum and spending the afternoon in the queue under the sunshine.
I remember the feeling of euphoria when Long Road started; we were about 11 rows back (if you can make out actual rows in a GA crowd) so the view was good and the sound was clear. Eddie sounded so good, and the crowd loved every minute of every song.
London was such a great opening show for our little 4-show tour, and believe it or not it'd only get better with Dusseldorf a few days later!

Arrrrrgh! I never even thought about playing it through itunes and messing with the eq settings. I'm useless with it all though, can you recommend whats the best setting to have it on?
Its so hard to get the sound quality really good but i set the eq to acoustic and then move the two bars on the left down (32 and 64). No more is awesome as there are no drums!!

thanks for the tip. I set it to acoustic but as soon as i moved the two bars on the left down it changed to 'manual' and the bass drum is still really loud!
like i said its hard to get a good sound, im sure there must be some software which would clean it up a bit. I just wish there was an official bootleg!!

Me too! You have no idea how many emails i sent to 10c begging for bootlegs! I offered them anything i could think of in exchange for bootlegs, even pie!
I got taking to a Tenclub member but i was pissed and didnt ask for his name

I've been to 20 shows now, and this show is definitely in my top 5. The band was great, but it was the whole experience that made it special - the 5 day stay in London (from NY), the fans, general admission on the floor. The European crowd was so hungry for PJ - I guarantee there was no complaining about the setlist. I met a lot of really cool people from all over the world. Back at the hotel, I was talking to these Scottish guys in their 40s who are really into music, but not necessarily big PJ fans. They seriously go to about 100 shows per year. They were blown away by PJ, said it was one of the best shows they ever saw.
ive been going to gigs for a little over 4 years and in that time ive been to around 130 diffent shows....ive been to some good, some bad, some poor, some great, some life changing and some disappointing......
ever since gig 1 which was in may 04 - pearl jam were at the top (well...maybe 2nd) of bands i wanted to see live.....i loved pearl jam....i bought their cds, posters etc (when about 11,000 out of the 13,459 songs i have on my computer atm were obtained illeagally and i get most posters free in magazines)....to put it bluntly pearl jam were a big deal to me....the impact they made on my life was irreversable and i didnt want it to be....
i was at the front of the however many 10's of thousands of people for pearl jams set at leeds festival in august 2006...infact....almost 2 years on if i press my ribs they still hurt a little from being pushed at the barrier.....without a doubt one of the best nights of my life and one of the best performances by any band ive seen.......
so imagine my delight the following year when the european tour was announced.....after realising that realistically the only show i could make was the wembly one which was no problem for me.....a trip from manchester doesnt cost too much and i had a pack of friends to go with.......
its here my relationship with pearl jam began to turn a little sour......i should probably mention that i was 17 in 2007.......so pearl jam are playing london....perfect......i then find out that all the standing tickets are being prioritised to all the ten club members......it then became clear that not only was it too late for me to join the ten club in time to get hold of these standing tickets but that there were enough ten club members to buy them....... now i know it might seem that sitting a gig isnt the end of the world....and it isnt.....and of course ten club members should get certain perks......i hold no bother there....but that fact is......as little as it may seem to some......i cant really afford to join the ten club as in the years 03-08 the only time ive ever felt i'd benefit from joining is the one time and i dont really have that kind of money to spend on that kind of thing anyway.....and besides.....the trip to london was already costing more money than what i had........ alas i consoled myself with the chance that some standing tickets may be left over for me to snap up........sadly before tickets went on general sale, all the standing and better seating tickets were gone........this for lack of a better word upset me a little as i considered myself a huge pearl jam fan.......i had given the band more money than any other band i loved (i know this sounds like a retarded argument ''the stingy guy gave up some cash so they should give him backstage passes and his photo on the next album cover'') but what im saying is....despite spending at least £130 ($260) it was as if pearl jam wanted more money from me......and were now almost punishing me for not having the insight to spend money to join the fan club in case they came to my town (which they didnt..... almost 200 miles away) but the best i could hope for was an average seat way up in the teirs......and one of the things that has always drawn me to live music is being stood in front of a band surrounded by people enjoying them just as much as you are connecting with the music (i can't really get that sentence to sound how i want it to without coming across as a poofy loser so that'll have to do) and in the past ive always found that difficult when sat down (or at the barrier where moving is even harder) so being stood amongst the crowd was definitly a priority for me......
so problem 1 which i had in march or so (whenever tickets were released) had already tainted potential excitement i would have felt in anticipation of the gig
....then.......rather ironically a band i couldnt stop listening to at the time, idlewild, were announced as support making me even more desperate to be standing......so i could giv them some support as a fan........
the day finally came......by my own fault i was hungover........putting me in a shitty mood from the get go........but after a 10 minute service station stop i was fine......and on the coach i carried on listening to idlewild...i was blissfully happy to be seeing them later that day............anyway......after scouring the touts and realising getting a standing ticket wasn't gonna come cheap i left it for a while.......about half an hour before doors were due to open i managed to get a standing ticket in exchange for my seating ticket and £50 or so....and that was after about ten minutes of negotiating and i did manage to get about 2/3 off........so there i was.......almost broke.........almost 200 miles away from home with a piece of card.......and all i had around me were about 18 000 european people who had travellled from all over the place to be there today....which did make for...well.....a unique experience.......i heard only several english voices around me in the queue and in the crowed and most of them were coloured with european accents......
now dont get me wrong......travelling is awesome...particularly if u want to see your favourite band......but what pearl jam (albeit probably unintentionally) created was a gig in london for the european ten club community....which sounds terrific......but.......usually only 1% of any arena show no matter what city in whichever country is attended by travelling fans from an different country....but here it felt more lik 90%......this probably doesnt sound like a problem to many people........but when your stood next to a guy from italy who travelled from turin to be there as well as going to all but 1 of the italian shows from the year before and still managed to pay less than what you payed to be standing in the same position as him you tend to feel like a bit of a twat and maybe the band you love shouldnt have let that happen to their fans ........
so that was problem 2.......problem 3 hit during the gig.....despite pearl jam being note perfect the set list.....lets face it......it could have been better....Bu$hleaguer for gods sake......whats wrong with Corduroy.......although.......the set list admittedly means nothing....anyone who goes to gigs hoping to hear certain songs will definitely leave disappointed.......because everyone has different songs on their wish list........no pun intended........the setlist was not my problem.........but at one point eddie vedder ....and i timed it.......because im cool like that......went on 8 minute (at least) rant about george bush and tony blair.......now......8 minutes is 1 song........or 2 depending on which songs.......and not only did eddie waste 8 minutes talking about george bush......to mostly european people who have zero control over who the US president is.......and im fairly sure only a small percentage of the small percentage of british people actually at the show, minus the ones who are too young to even vote would have cared......and not only that.....but much of the lecture was about tony blair and directed at the brits (remember most of this crowed wasnt even british and therefore under tony blairs authority.......and to add insult to injury.......but about 2 weeks before....tony blair had announced his imminent resignation due to take place about a week or two after the pearl jam show anyway.......so vedder was complaining about a leader who was essentially clearing his desk as he spoke......what a waste of 8 minutes........what a waste of time.......and what a waste of money and effort......
i left that show bitter with disappointment........and i can't really help how i feel about the gig.........and i cant really do anything to change it.........since that gig i barely listen to pearl jam.....naturally a bond with anything of that nature can't really be broken.....so when pearl jam come on shuffle, chances are ill keep it on.....and my 2 pearl jam t-shirts are insanly cool.......so i still wear them.......and the giant poster in my room is still hanging........the point im trying to make is that gig ruined pearl jam for me.......when imagine in cornice came out.......where as before the wembley show it would have been pre-ordered to be doorstep the day of release........my friend had to convice me to borrow his and watch it..............and about 5 minutes in i couldn't....it was boring me and i just didnt feel the energy i used to feel....to be blunt....i just didnt give a shit.......so i gave it him back saying id watched it all when really i hadnt..............
so after this effort of a post which i doubt anyone will read....all i want is to give a shit about pearl jam again....cos i miss them.....i dont wanna not like them.....i can't help it......its just the way i feel......i just want at least someone to acknowledge my thoughts and either confirm my opinion as valid......or as one of a crazy person.......but the truth is......i felt really disappointed.......and i just want people to know that......i never know....someone may have had a similar experience.....
anyway.....thanx for listenin i guess.........although im sure most of the people who read this line have skipped to it after seeing how long the post was.

but something about the 2nd enc made me go "meh" aswell. the politics.. bushleaguer, no more and wws as the big 3 anti pollie/war tracks in a row. maybe another smokey like in my tree or sonic wouldve put the icing on the cake.
but fuck me that main set was awesome. the crowd was intense. and the band were on fire. still a fantastic show.
I travelled all the way from Japan to be there --The thing that I find so frustrating about Wembley is I cannot seem to remember it as clearely as I want to,It was only my 3rd show,I attended Sendai in 2003 and Bern In 2006 and I can remember them both so clearly maybe it was having the boots I dont know, I was so excited to be going to Wembley --using like you most of my hard earned savings to do so, I got to meet an old Pearl Jam friend from the U.S which was fantastic ,also met up with my family again ,--I am lucky as I had ten club tickets from the start so was in the crush at the front!!
I just so wish I could remeber it all more clearly ,It feels like a long ago dream.
I hope you will get back into PJ because they are really worth it ,they are such a big part of my life ,I hope they will be for you again too .
i was ever so slightly disappointed with the enc.. but fuck me i still love them.
i hope you can see past that encore, quix. theres a lot more to pj and 8min of political ranting. think of the 16yrs before that moment... and the 14mths since. youll love them again.
i still love the music....and im sure i always will.......its just that previous energy which has faded.... im sure next time they play a show in england......ill get tickets fine......ill be in the crowed enjoying myself....and their brilliance will blow me away......thus restoring the force
