Goodbye, Boston Night 2

edited August 2008 in Given To Fly (live)
This is one of the saddest songs I've ever hear. For those of you not at the show, Ed stopped have way through because he was about to loose it. I have to admit I was almost crying before he did. Personally I think of my wife when I here this song.

Does anyone know who it's about?

Hope to see you some of you in Montreal or Toronto.

    Seems rather obvious, no?

    you think of your wife....

  • thank you for your thoughts, but I'm asking what was in Ed's head when he wrote the song. Can anyone name a song that made him stop halfway through because he was crying? It seems like an important song and I would be interested in finding out who he wrote it about.

I wasn't sure if he "couldn't do it" because he got too emotional or because he forgot the song! (either is not too hard to believe :)).

I almost lost it through half the songs. I don't know what it was about Man of the Hour...I was absolutely fighting back tears both nights.

Just getting to hear EV like that was emotional for me. I just made me realize how important this guy's music has been to me for more than half my life!

Ed wrote and recorded an entire album of Ukulele songs back in 2000. He has stated that it will never be released however because the songs are too personal. 'Goodbye' is one of those songs.
