    How about Gus's fried chicken?

Friendly suggestion that you instead hit Cemitas Puebla a block or so down from Gus's. The greenish sauce - so delish.

My plan on Saturday is to hit up Small Cheval for lunch and a few pitchers either cocktails or beer. Move on to Hopewell brewing. Finish at Sluggers. Then sec 133 hotdogs with grilled onions, maybe a Doug's dog if that's open in the stadium.

Speedy, have you been to the Saved by the Bell pop-up restaurant? I think it's called Saved by the Max; I hear it's open thru the end of the month. I'm damn sure gonna try that out. And some Pequod's. And I need a replacement for Hot Doug's, too.

I heard about this as well, was hoping to check it out at some point. Any reviews out there yet?
From what I gathered from all my friends is that the place is cool to see but the food isn't the greatest. Basically you're going there for nostalgia only.
I had a feeling this was the type of place you go once for the experience and the nostalgia. Never really set my expectations high on great food.

Breakfast: Wake up and go to the hotel lobby..Get a Bloody Mary

Lunch: Find a Portillos and get a Beef Sandwich, some Cheese Fries, and a Diet Coke

Dinner: Go to Lou Malnatis and get a Deep Dish Sausage..Wash it down with a pitcher of Beer.

Repeat this Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

I concur, except for the Diet Coke at lunch, the do sell schooners of beer at Portillos!

I won't make any proclamations of "best in town," but best gyros in the Wrigley vicinity are here: http://chicago.menupages.com/restaurants/windy-city-gyros/. They got way too much of my $$$ when I lived up the block.

I call taking a gigantic, explosive, bowl destroying dump....Taking a Lou.
This is named after what happened after digesting at least a pitcher of beer and a personal pizza at Lous. Goddamn holy hell my stomach felt like I ate a five pound stick of butter and chased it with a quart of bacon grease.
Just be warned that out of Towner's may not be up for a big Lou Malnati's pie....my advice would be to have a single piece.
I love Chicago...and seeing Pearl Jam there was probably the most fun I've had on a trip there....but an evening was severely impacted by working to digest what passes for pizza there.
I'm not the only person who has had this experience....still love you Chicago, I just happen to think your pizza is a potential bomb to the old stomach.

    Thin crust.

    where is the Chicago location?

Hero's is a must and on the corner of Western and ADDISON. If you are travelling from the interstate you will pass it in about 1 1/2 miles. Will be on the left when you approach the HUGE high school (Lane) on the right which takes up 4 city blocks.

Coming in Friday and staying down in the Loop area, as the wife and I have never been to Chicago. I'm a beer fiend, just checking to see of Howells and Hood is as good as some of the reviews I have read. I wouldn't mind trying to hit up Half Acre at some point as well.

Sorry, I've not been to Howells and Hood. However, you might want to check out Hopleaf, which is just a few red line stops north of Wrigley, maybe you can work a pre-show lunch or dinner.

Yeah it's decent. Been there for lunch and after work drinks. Right off of Michigan and the river.

Me and my bro gonna be at Gingerman just north of Wrigley. A great fucking old school bar we've been wetting our whistles at for 25 years...

This whole thread mixed with the comment in the Fenway 1 fanview about fan club members needing to mix in a salad every now and then has me rolling.

As someone who recently lost over 100 pounds, I'm going to eat like my former fat ass self this weekend. As much as like the Southern cuisine down here in Nashville, there's nothing quite like a Chicago dog and pizza. mmm.

I've mixed in a salad for about 2 months now, just for the reason you're talking about.
