Lexington Whiskey Inquiry

The wait is finally over and I received my Lexington Whiskey print and it really looks awesome. There is one thing however that I am not sure about. I noticed immediately after taking it out of the tube, there is a very thin white line that runs horizontally across the middle of the poster (across the horses). I was wondering if anyone else who ordered this poster, specifically the whiskey version has this line as well.
I left Ames a voicemail yesterday and then followed up with an email and pics, left another voicemail today and have not heard back. They are usually pretty good to deal with in my experiences with them.
Not sure if there is a printing mishap or whether its trying to bring an antique look similar to the Eddie Vedder Houston and Dallas posters of 2012.
Hopefully there are a few people who scored one and can tell me if they see a line across theirs or not.
Thanks
SDL

    SDL, Here is an excerpt from a post I made last week - sounds just like your issue:
    "My 'Moonshine' just arrived in beautiful condition! Excellent packaging as well.
    Looks like Ames has decided to switch back to quality cardboard tubes with taped on end caps.
    A really awesome poster and in near mint condition, too (the only defect being a thin, light horizontal "scuff mark" line across the center of the poster - not uncommon when flat black ink is used. I'm usually able to very carefully buff a line like that out)."
    SDL: If you are brave, take a very soft white cloth and VERY GENTLY "brush" at the line (DON'T rub). That usually improves the appearance though it doesn't completely remove it.

    OP: I bought a Moonshine and it has the same thing in the same place you describe. Please keep us posted on response you get from Ames.

    I'm just curious, and I'm not trying to argue but, would you really go to the expense and hassle of returning a poster with this minor (imo) issue? You'd have to pay return shipping on it and then take the risk of getting a new one with maybe a small bend or handling crease in it which would be even worse. Ames Bros. certainly aren't going to let you keep this one then send you another. As I said in my original post, in my experience, this is a common issue with silkscreen posters utilizing flat black ink. I'm not a printer, but this issue evidently occurs during printing and I imagine most of these posters have this issue.

    my greenville variant ap arrived damaged...Ames asked me to rip it up and take photos of the carnage in order to have a replacement sent.
    Any new realizations... would have to wait...
    Til he had more time,... more time...
    Time to dream,... to himself... he waves goodbye,
    To himself... I'll see you on the other side...

    Just an update. Someone from Ames called yesterday and were really cool about it. They were looking at the pics i had sent while talking to me and said they will gladly replace the poster. I must however destroy the one in my possession and send pics of proof, including a close up of the number.
    It's unfortunate i received it with the issue but the Ames guy assured me the replacement has been checked and is mint (hopefully it arrives that way).
    Destroying it instead of shipping back to Ames saves shipping time and cost, especially from Canada where it could cost $25-$50 using their preferred courier and at least a week in travel time.
    I can't even imagine destroying this kick ass poster, but these are the doctors orders and that's what will get me what i originally purchased, a Lexington Whiskey poster without a white line cutting across the center.
    Overall good experience with Ames. They have always been able to accommodate when unexpected things happen, at least with me they have been super cool.
    I will let you know once i receive the new one and the condition of it.

    @jjflash
    I would suggest you take some clear pics, closeups as well. (i took 4 or 5 pics) attach them to an email and explain the issue. I know they apologized in getting back to me a little late due to high volume over the memorial day weekend. Best you call them and speak to someone about it.

    @shecky
    Yes my Chrome Transformers arrived in a thick heavy plastic tube with a little piece of tape holding both ends in. The mailman passed me the tube with his thumb inside of it, it was also snowing that day on top of seeing this guys thumb in the tube. I had a heart attack, thank god the poster didn't get damaged. These Lexington tubes are much better sealed with the hard plastic caps and firmly taped.

    Ouch!!! I personally couldn't do that to such a beautiful poster.

    Ames has been great about replacing the posters. Ripping it up sucks, yeah, but if they didn't make you rip it up, everyone who ordered one would say it arrived in non mint shape just to get an additional poster. Unfortunately, its the only way to do it.

    That's true. In fact, that's why they (and Ten Club, also) had to adopt this policy awhile back.
    Too many people were taking advantage of them, claiming that the poster or record they'd received was damaged in order to get a second freebie sent to them. Ever notice how many "replacement" red vinyl Lightning Bolt albums are available for trade etc.? I believe that was the fiasco that caused Ten Club to initiate the "destroy & photograph" policy - not sure when Ames got tired of getting burned too and adopted the same policy.
