Posters...new to collecting

in Lost Dogs
I am attending the 2 Wrigley shows this summer and it seems that posters 'fly off the shelves". What are the chances of getting one at the show? How early should i get in line ect?

2. prices will be huge after the show on ebay etc, wait some time and prices usually drop, a few exceptions have been Moline and Wrigley Shuss, those just seem to get higher and higher.
3. get there early as you can, but understand you are going to possibly not get one after waiting 3 hours plus. It happened to me many time and I hated it. But I was the asshole standing in line at Alpine, Wrigley, and Moline, and Milwaukee only to get jack squat.
Bring a tube to stick it in, if venue says no, so you're out a tube, but if not your print will stay minty fresh (don;t leave it on a venue floor as beer spills can move a long distance.
4. If you have the cash, buy two, they are great for trading for other stuff later. Don;t be like the jerk at MSG who bought a whole stack literally 5 inches thick just to flip on ebay
5. HANG THEM, what is the point if they stay rolled up forever, or in a portfolio
6. Have a line partner so you can alternate the wait, talk to, eat, take a dump, go look to see what you are actually waiting in line for...Both arrive there at the start though, no one likes the guy who comes in 5 hours later to meet their buddy, then he stays in line and gets the last print before they run out a person in front of you, that is just BS
People buying things for "trade bait" just adds to the problem of others not getting posters, pins, shirts hockey jerseys, etc. Why not just buy one of the item that you want and leave more for the other people in line behind you? If the people in front of you at Alpine, Wrigley, Moline and Milwaukee did the same thing, you may have gotten the posters at those shows.
Wrigley is going to be a nightmare in the merch line. If you really want to, line up in the mid-AM. Cut out a good 5-6 hours of your day. Bring sunscreen and water. Personally, I wouldnt burden my day with this.
For all posters (same as tickets) there is an initial bump in secondary market prices and it normally levels off (for about 90% of prints). Sometimes it goes up over time and you just have to speculate. Like the Crackerjack poster at Wrigley, you could tell was a classic. Pittsburgh '13 I jumped on a fleabay sale of an AP off the bat and the thing has > doubled in value of what I paid for it since.
So after the show, check here and the facebook groups. The artists sell their AP versions online and you can try for those.
After that, the 10 club sell a stack of show versions for $35. You can try for those too.
After that, consider biting the bullet on secondary market.
As discussed above too.... the ugly truth of the PJ poster and merch world is many double-dip and overbuy in hopes of trading for other stuff. Say you miss out on the Wrigley AP, but try for and get luck on a Fenway AP. Then you have the trade bait for what you really want. It sucks and it gums up the purchase process for those who have trouble buying what they desire to hold/keep... but thats the micro-economy that has been built here.
