I only read a few of the complaining posts, but of the few I read, 2 people said "I've been a member for 17 yrs" or for 10 or something years, and have NEVER gotten a ticket. If THAT is true, I don't see how any of you are saying they don't have a right to complain. If that's true I think they have every right to complain, and perhaps there is yet another metric that the lottery computer should be configured to consider, which is how many of the past lotteries that the member has entered have they gotten tix for. If the answer is none and they've entered many lotteries, they should be weighted much higher for their first choices.

That would be totally fair, and would cut out all of the complaining by people who've been members for a long time and never/hardly ever won tix. And I write all of that as a once long term member who lapsed, got a new number years ago (so my number is pretty high), and got a single pair of tix for my 1st choice city which was a high demand city. So I'm not complaining and I wasn't shut out.
  • Couldn't agree more. 20 and 30 year old fans shouldn't be automatically shut out due to it being impossible that they could have joined any early. There are problems with the lottery system but seniority guaranteeing someone tickets isn't one of them

Just curious, how long does one have to be a member to be considered "senior"?

That wasn't what they were saying. They just meant that they are long term members and didn't get a ticket in this particular lottery.

  • I think it's wrong to tell anyone they can't whine complain or whatever you wanted to call it. Don't like it move on to the next post! Pretty sure if you were shut out you would be a little salty too! The old post card method was still my favorite. This still absolutely beats the days of F5. I think the system can be tweaked a little but still grateful for even the chance. I've been pretty lucky and today I got my first choice and only my first out of 6. So I won't complain.

Plenty of people who get shut out are gracious about it.

I applied for both NYC shows in the hope of getting one. Got neither. Very disappointed. Was prepared to travel all the way from South Africa for one show. My dream was to see them at MSG.

I feel for people who did not get tickets to the show they wanted because odds are bots and scalpers are getting the rest of what is available to the major markets. If people got shut out of reserved seating for places like Lexington, Jacksonville, etc I think that would be dumb because odds are they won`t be full.
About PJ`s popularity.... In certain markets they are very popular....Cincinnati 2014 the mayor declared it Pearl Jam day, I had random people coming up to me asking me about the show the next day when my friend and I lost the parking garage we parked in the day before. On Bonnaroo`s website PJ is the most popular band, as far as people adding them to their itinerary. I mean more than The Dead, Macklemore,Ellie Goulding, Death Cab, Tame Impala by like 500.
Not many bands can do arena tours with no other bands...Hell even Metallica tours with the most popular opening band they can get.

Though this idea won’t go down well, a better way to win the lottery is to make it that each person has a guaranteed shot at winning one of their choices so Person A put in 4 choices, person b puts in 2 etc. So Person A wins his 3rd choice and is immediately shut out of the others choice so that means Person b has a better chance of winning their choice before being shut out of the others. This means that everyone goes to one show at least. Prefer that or prefer the chance of seeing them more than once?

So try on Ticketmaster. If that fails, go to stub hub. There is no reason you can't still see the show.

When you start a new job do you start at the highest pay rate? No. Do you start at the maximum vacation time? No. Do you have to work weekends because you're the low man/woman on the totem pole? Yes.

This is how seniority works in the real world and should work in the 10 Club. End of story.

Reading through all the posts the past couple days it seems the people bitching the most are the ones who went for the high demand GA shows and got shut out. Lets say this tour was done the old F5 way. Do you really think it would of been any easier to get NY,Philly, or Toronto tickets?

I think I have now been a steady member of the 10c for 5 or 6 years now. I let it lapse a couple times prior. Wrigley was my first experience getting or even going for 10c tickets and I won. Since I have won Cincinnati and Lexington both reserved at my first choice. I am 3 for 3. Before and even still I have never had an issue getting tickets through TM. Columbus 2010 i got great lower bowl seats. For Cincinnati in 2014 I had no issues getting on and getting an extra pair for my wife and friend.

I get that, but this is far different than a real world job man. It's a fan club of a band.
Even if you wanted to stay with that analogy, the employee who was hired yesterday is entitled to the same benefits as the 20 year veteran. The benefits of the 10c happen to be a single, a magazine, a t shirt, and ticket lottery chances. A person who signed up the day before the tour announcement should have no different chances of tickets than the first member of the ten club. We all pay the same to be members.
  • Just curious...were the people who are complaining shut out for just the large market shows (i.e. NYC, Philly, Toronto, etc.) or both large and small market shows?

We all have to consider that there will always be more people seeking tickets for shows in the largest markets than the number of tickets available. I feel that the band has done a good job at hitting different cities and countries on each tour, both in large and smaller markets. It allows different people to attend shows that may not normally be able to. In my opinion, that's a good thing.

Can you imagine the complaints if Pearl Jam only played 5-10 shows per year just in the largest cities like New York, Chicago, and Seattle? It would be a lot more difficult for fans to get tickets and a lot more expensive for the majority to get to the shows when factoring in travel costs.
