Chicago 1995 - The Classic Soldiers Field Broadcast - Does anyone own it?

ZodZod Posts: 10,103
I've slowly been acquiring silver pressed copies of some of the classic shows from the 90s (yah I have digital copies but I want to get hard copies too). I saw this on Amazon UK:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chicago-1995-Classic-Soldiers-Broadcast/dp/B014KPE7KE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446147268&sr=8-1&keywords=pearl+jam+soldier+field

Even though is probably quasi-illlegal (illegal to make and release here, but not so illegal over there) I was wonder if they were silver pressed (as I've seen some companies getting lazy and using well disguised cd-r's) and the sound was comparable to the other boots out there. Doesn't look too bad for 9.99 pounds.

I am not saying it isn't legit, but those don't look like the ones I have from around that time.

I don't have that one but have the "Red Robin" (I think) version that's 3 CDs and has the Live at Leeds like cover. It's soundboard but the bass is almost non existent. I would guess this is the same quality, since it was a radio broadcast off the soundboard?

The best source is the SBD/AUD mix, if anyone is looking for the best sound quality rather than collectability.

I have the Red Robin one as well.
If I had to guess its the same source that's out there and "repackaged" to make money.

Yah I'm only trying to find a silver pressed copy (I already have a FLAC of the sbd/aud mix version). I've seen some other shows get re-released in the UK lately and some of them have been on cd-r (and almost silver coloured looking ones, but the color is just off enough that you can tell it's cd-r). I was hoping someone might have bought one of these. Most likely cheaper than acquiring one of the original versions from the 90s.

    There's 3 good sources ..

1.) Source: Boot CD-"Live at Soldier Field": MWFM (Red Robin)
    + "Animal" from MWFM > Q101 promo CD + Coresounds > Sony TCD-D7

    2.) 2 Sources Mix: Monkey Wrench Mono FM + CS > D7 > 3 CD-R

    3.) Core Sound Binaurals > Sony TCD-D7 > DAT-M > DAT1 48khz Transfer: Tascam DA-20 > Monster coax > DiO 2496 > Soundforge 6.0 (resample to 44.1) > CDWave > FLAC

    ..

There's this promo CD that keeps popping up every few weeks on eBay.

    image

    Then there's this a Parrot & Robin version ..

    image

    image

    .. There's Parrot one for $60 bucks over at http://www.amazon.com/Pearl-Jam-Live-Soldier-Field/dp/B009PFS062 .

    ..

    Then there's this one.

Which at one time I didn't buy cause of funds. It was either this or the Road Rage bootleg. I went with the Road Rage bootleg. Went back to Taz Records the week after, set was gone. D'oh!!!

I never got an answer on my original question of whether or not this new pressing was silver pressed (or sounds as good as the boots/promos from the 90s), but it does sway me towards wait a little longer and see if I can score an older pressing of the show.

Wow, I often wish I was born earlier so I could have seen PJ in 1993/1994, but I should be grateful that I got to see them in 1995 at Soldier Field. You can hear the show here and feel free to PM me if you ever want the FLAC SBD/AUD mix:

You're welcome! Indeed it was. First of 70 Pearl Jam shows and first of hundreds of other concerts for me. Life-changing to say the least.

I would say Wrigley was life-changing for me. I love when people say that about a concert. I have a lot of catching up to do to hit 70!

I've tried searching the label " Smokin' " , and the ASIN # . No info if it's a CD-R or silver CD pressing. An item sold on Amazon should mention if it's CD-R or not. For example the Horrible Bosses CD Soundtrack. http://www.amazon.com/Horrible-Bosses-Original-Picture-Soundtrack/dp/B00YI719XI/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1446246346&sr=1-2&keywords=horrible+bosses+soundtrack .. CD-R Note: This product is manufactured on demand when ordered from Amazon.com.

If you want the best audio experience from this show, download that sweet soundboard / audience mix.

Thanks. I have the sweet soundboard/audience mix already. I was trying to find a silver pressed copy to add to my collection.

My kids bought me this for my birthday earlier this month!
It sounds good, (a little 'swishy' though, at times) probably the same as the bootlegs out there, but it is claimed to be the direct broadcast from the SBD - there is commentary at the very beginning and during the encores.
I think the discs are silver pressed with a number on the back of each and are both picture discs featuring the photo from the CD inlay card.

Can you please add pictures of the discs and inlay card? Maybe of the front and back inserts as well?

Notice the incorrect date on the back. Listed as November 7th 1995 instead of July 11th 1995.

yeah, the bootleggers are very likely to be european and they must have taken 07/11/95 as if written in the european way (day - month - year), without even looking if that was correct.
On a side note, I notice now that this is the whole show with all the songs and 157 min total running time (I checked the time of every song listed and the total time results in 153 min 44 sec though).. When I first saw it on Ebay I thought it was incomplete, since it was only 2cd set..
If I'm not wrong, this is actually the first time ever this concert appears in its entirety in a silver pressed (even if it's a bootleg) cd set.. Right? Plus, what source do you think it's been used here? It says "From An FM Radio Broadcast" but that isn't too much info.. they could as well have used the new mix BLG did about a couple years ago, for what we know (and maybe trimmed it a little to fit it in two cd without overburning? I don't know, never burned this show on cd even if I listened to it dozen of times).
