Smoking Marijuana In Denver

So I know that marijuana is legal in Colorado now...but what exactly does that mean? Can I smoke weed in the streets just as I could a cigarette? What about in the arena? I'm sure it's frowned upon (or even against the rules) to smoke weed in the arena. But would security really care? And I hear there are now stores where you can buy weed in Denver. Are any close to the Pepsi Arena or in the vicinity?

Two rec shops within easy walk of Pepsi Center. One is on Wynkoop, one on Wazee, 10-12 min walk. Several more shops as you go further into downtown.
Lots of info on local regs and stuff on www.thecannabist.co

No, you aren't supposed to walk around in public smoking, but they are not really going out of their way to get people in trouble (unless you are flaunting). Many use vapes in public. Normal arena discretion applies, pretty easy to do.

Okay good to know about the shops close to the arena. So smoking will be about the same as it is everywhere....but without the possibility of being arrested (it's decriminalized in Denver). Like you said, they don't go out of their way to catch people and I keep a low profile as it is. So it all sounds good.

Do these marijuana dispensaries also sell pipes? Was gonna bring an unused one-hitter on the plane with me but it doesn't seem worth the hassle. They sell glass pieces in the dispensaries right? Even if only one-hitters?

Keel in mind that smoking in public is illegal and people do get ticketed.
Also smoking of anything inside the Pepsi Center can get you tossed.

When I went to Nijmengen in 2010, I think I was the only one smoking as far as I could see, and it was in a large outdoor field with 50k + people. I felt out of place smoking there - it was strange! It just goes to show you that where there is tolerance and education to support it, there are less people who will indulge. It's like drinking once you turn 21 in the US - the novelty wears off a bit.

Watch out for the edibles. Lots of ER visits in Denver this year from people overdosing on THC. Don't know how much they can handle.

Even veteran pot consumers can be laid low by taking too much of an edible. I bet it has happened to everyone at least once, but you don't want your first time to be during Pearl Jam. :(
If you are someone who indulges quite a bit- a brownie that says 150 mg of THC-- take 1/4. Then be PATIENT, it takes one hour to really start to feel high. Don't wait 15 minutes and say "WTF I'm taking another bite." Maybe smoke after eating to make a bridge to feeling the effect. The high will last 2+ hours.
If you don't have THC built up too much in your system that 1/4 brownie might get you pretty ripped- but not Maureen Dowd-ripped. Take that whole brownie, you will not have a good time at the show.

I'd be interested in other opinions about the proper dosage of THC.

My last (and first "official") time with an edible - I prefer/preferred smoking it - took the recommended dose on a semi-full stomach, hit the bowl a couple times after, and I was good to GO within about 40 minutes.

I look at edibles as putting sugar, or eggs, or vanilla, into a recipe...don't want to go overboard as you can always add more, but once it's in there you can't take it out.

Just not worth feeling Dowdy (ha!).

I bet they're even more strict about smoking inside the show when it's legal, and maybe even search specifically for weed way more on your way in, assuming it's banned from the venue the same way outside alcohol is... although I don't have any idea if it is. Do they treat carrying weed in like alcohol or cigarettes?? Okay to bring in as long as you don't smoke it indoors? Or zero tolerance like booze?

that is how Seattle has become since legalization, the whole city, you can't walk more than a block without smelling chronic, since the smell of weed is no longer probable cause, I can't wait for more Pearl Jam shows at The Gorge, it will be awesome

Jealous! I got a pile of edibles from CO a few months ago- just eat a half or a few bites and wait an hour.

As for all the what and how to do it since you're in CO, just treat it like any other state and you'll be fine. Don't be a moron and they won't fuck with you. Pretty simple! This isn't anyone's first concert, don't act like it is people!
