I guess I will post here.
It is really hard to say that any album is better since.....
After a ton of listens. Lightning Bolt is a good album.
I always think the next PJ album that come out will be good. I expect nothing less.
But I we are a different breed of PJ fans. We aren't the casual fan who thinks they faded away after there first 3 albums.
Is is hard to explain to the public, family, friends how good PJ is and how much the mean.
Family get annoyed with all the PJ references and talk.
Maybe in the whole scheme of music PJ isn't really know by the general public. Most people think of Jeremy etc.
Time will tell. They may go down as one of the best ever in rock, lyricists, and music and general.
In my mind they are but who knows.
Too me all PJ albums are good. Not all the songs but the album as a whole are all good.
Backspacer maybe not the best but had some good songs.
That is why to truly judge you must see a show
PJ has grown up and matured. Gone is the youthful angst of the first 3 albums. We all know that angst is still there and still come out but they as I am are older-wiser.
Maybe now they are just happy. Isn't that something special to be happy and to make relevant music about it but still have some teeth in that music.
Since Yield maybe? But some people may think Backspacer is their best album.
They are touching new generations of fans who are going to hear LB before they ever heard Ten.
We can only discuss and debate.....
its growing on me more and more with every listen... I'd say best since Binaural. There are no "big" songs on LB...anthemic types like Nothing as it Seems.

I absolutely loved this album from the very first listen. I think there are several "big" songs and it just may become my favourite album to date. Okay maybe not, but it is definitely up there.

I respectfully disagree: Lightning Bolt, Swallowed Whole etc.
I like Binaural but what holds it back IMO are the first 3 songs. Breakerfall, God's Dice and Evacuation have never done it for me. Now when you look at the first 3 of L-Bolt, you got something there?
I think it's safe to say this album is better than the last two. At least it's safe for me to say since that's my opinion.

I love Binaural, it was a different direction for the band, and quite a shock after the light and airy No Code and Yield. They got darker again and I liked that, (I think Mike & Eddie were probably going through rough times)
Add to that, an absolutely smoking tour.
However, the songs left off the album irk me. Sad, Fatal & Education were brilliant, and it's fair to say a lot stronger that certain tracks that made the final album.
At this moment Lightning Bolt for me is better than Binaural.
Best album since Riot Act for me. Still love Avocado but I don't feel it has aged as well as Ten through to Riot Act. It's infinitely better than Backspacer.
It'll be interesting to see how my reaction and others to Lightning Bolt is in 6 months time - I remember initially liking Backspacer, especially tracks 1-5 but that soon wore off. Hope Lightning Bolt isn't the same!

Binaural may not have the best start it could've, but it's a lot better than the closing of Lightning Bolt. Binaural gets a real jump start, even if it's not the best material on the album. Lightning Bolt really peters out in the last dive and those last 3 in a row is about as bad of a closing I can think of.
After comparing the openings, Binaural really runs away with it.

Good points made but I think its more important to start an album than to finish. I have already customized LB and took out LTRP and SBM as I think Yellow Moon is a great song and helps wind down the end and Future Days kind of puts it to bed.

I might agree about starting an album strong, but Binaural ain't no slouch in that department. Comes out guns ablazin'. I'll give the edge to the first 3 on LB, but after that there are a few songs on Binaural that nothing on LB can approach.
I actually dig LTRP, Yellow Moon and SBM, but the last 3 in a row is just a complete nose dive and even including Pendulum, the home stretch doesn't even come close to Of the Girl-Parting Ways.

I would agree. It's my favorite one since Yield. Haven't spent enough time with Lightning Bolt to form an opinion yet.
Agreed, best since Riot Act.
Best since RA fosho

Future Days puts alot of things to bed.
