Songs the Band Things are Special Live

We all know what songs we think make a concert special and rare. How much does the band know and act on that information?

I can think of two pieces of evidence that they are pretty well in tune with their set lists and how they are viewed. Its pretty clear there are some "special occasion" songs that only get played at shows they think are special or want to be special. Also if you look at scratches from setlists, its almost always these "special" songs that get scratched like a Deep or Breath or something like that.

My feelings is that when they put these songs on a set and play them they have sent a message that they a) believed the show would be special and b) thought it was special while playing:

Crown of Thorns
Breath
Smile
Daughter/Its OK
Deep?
Wash?

(I'm going to exclude bizarre songs that basically never ever get played: Bugs, Dirty Frank, etc)

(BTW I don't mean that the songs have special meaning for the band. Eddie clearly has special feelings for I Am Mine. But instead I mean songs they think make a concert special to fans)
