Please play this for me in Hartford. Thank you.And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true

The only truth I know is you.0 -
I was following this thread for the first couple pages, but then got side tracked, so I apologize if this has been covered.
I think Yellow Moon is more about suicide than gun violence in a broader sense. I think the first two verses speak to someone amongst us, who is all alone in the quiet of their own life; battling depression.
Now, this is where I go for a bit of a leap: I think the yellow moon is symbolism for solitude and suicide (yellow ribbon). This could be only a personal perspective because that issue touched my life recently, but I think there are some indications to that lead me to this opinion over the 'mass shooting'' or general gun violence theme suggested.
The following verses depict imagery of lonliness, emptiness and confusion to me. The lyrics literally mention one life, one grave after alluding to a single shot. Also, to me the lyrics about black and white fade, has to do with the contemplation of people close to the person who has taken his/her life. They are having difficulty unravelling how the person they thought they knew could have taken this way out. And perhaps a realization that they didn't really know the individual's personal struggles.
I'm thrown a bit by the 'falling stars' section though.
Just my thoughts! Thanks.Oh tonight began with anything

Good lyrics - that have us thinking about them over and over. I can see the suicide imagery, based on the graphic on the album art and the references to a single shot. I guess it's the "yellow moon on the rise" (more and more death) and "joins the parade" and "sky grows dark with fallen stars" that had me thinking gun violence in general... I keep picturing big numbers, a sky full of them... but unfortunately that could apply to suicides just as easily.
What a great song.0 -
Wasn't big into it at first - but then the bridge hit and I was like "Yeah..I can enjoy this!""There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."

That's pretty much how I felt about the song, probably my favorite part of the song, aside from the fantastic guitar licks from McCready.Tres Mts- 3/16/2011

I thought "meh" the first time I heard it, but it's really starting to grow on me. After to putting into heavy rotation, I really hear some cool similarities in sound/soul with a couple of iconic Canadian artists. Neil Young of course. I really hear/feel a Gordon Lightfoot vibe.
