Last minute flight from NYC to Chicago

I am now wishing I was in chicago for the festivities and am looking for flights. 500 seems to be the cheapest!! WTF? When did airlines get so damn pricey? :)

Thinking I could get a ticket for tomorrow but damn that's a lot for a flight. Anyone have any ideas?

    Just checked my flight from Newark to midway southwest tomorrow morning $399

    Edit.... Sorry that's for the one way. Return flight also $399
