"Smile" - How did I not know...

... that Stone and Jeff trade bass and guitar on it live? They've never played it at the shows I've been to.
Just watched some fan-shot video from 2011 in Buenos Aires and it took me a minute to figure out what was up.

Now, I'm wondering if that sort of thing happens on any other song.

If someone tells me that Mikey takes over the kit, it will blow my mind.

stone has drummed on yellow ledbetter.

It's kinda like with U2 and 40, the edge plays bass and Adam guitar.

Smile is the only song that someone in the band consistently trades instruments.

Pretty sure it's the only song in their catalog where there's a different "line-up". I think it was stated in the No Code album notes... I'll have to go check that.

I didn't know that! I've never seen it either. Had to pull it up on YouTube to see what it looked like...odd. Now I have to see this song.

I'm kinda glad that I'm not alone.

I'm not as big a fan as some folks, but they're my favorite band.
Woulda thought I knew this, especially since I love No Code.

If you consider voice an instrument, remember Mankind, where Ed plays guitar and Stone sings!

Here's video of Yellow Ledbetter/Little Wing in Vancouver, BC in 2011 where Matt & Stone switched.

(warning - the audio sucks. If anyone wants to teach me how to lay new audio over the video please sign me up!)

Jeff plays guitar on Bee Girl as well. And Back in the day, Dave A played it on Angel.

That's so cool that version with Matt & Stone swapped over. Stone looks so funny. What's with the 4th finger on Ed's left hand bleeding too? AM I seeing that right?

So, how was Stones drumming on the song compared to Matts?

I've seen it twice and didn't notice. It's hard to notice that kinda thing with my vision and looking through the bottom of a plastic cup.
