A Hurting Fan in Need of Support

Hey there,

My name is John, and I've been a 10c member and poster for 12 years now.

This past Tuesday (3/19), my girlfriend and soulmate passed away in a car accident. Needless to say, I've been a complete wreck all week. However, I've tried to remain strong to help her parents and sister through this horrific time.

In the past, I've seen posts like this on the board. I come to you all in need of support, as it's very hard to view the future with any kind of excitement or anticipation as I once had.

I'm lost. Totally lost without her.

I have a large support group, so that helps. However the only thing I want is her. For anyone that's gone through something like this, or has been close to those who have, please send me your encouragement and prayers.

Thank you.

Bro, wow, i sure as hell cant relate to what youre going thru or about to go thru. But know this, It's ok to cry, yell, shout, punch something (not someone) when you have to. Dnt keep it in, all you'll be doing is self-polluting yourself. Wow man, hang in there

Very sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you and her family. I've lost loved ones as well, but never so suddenly as a car accident. I wish I could help you but all I can do is offer my sincere condolences.

    Dear John,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't think anyone of us knows what you're feeling right now. I hope that all your friends and family support you and that you'll find some help and energy in Pearl Jam's music. That often helps, at least for me.

So sorry to hear this, John

Stay strong and use that support system you mentioned...you're going to need them.

My best friend went through this exact thing 3 years ago this June. The healing takes time, sometimes more time than your willing to give, but you will get through it, man.

Hi John - I lost my brother in a car wreck 12 years ago. Didn't cry for a week because I wanted to be strong for my family - so i can certainly relate.
I think being strong for her family is great and something you can always feel good about doing, however i would strongly advise you to find someone you can 'break down' to. A relative or friend away from the situation. You need and deserve to be able to do that.

Stay strong my friend - time really does heal all wounds.
    So sorry for your loss.

    -Robb

So sorry for you loss, sudden loss is very hard to deal with. I lost a very close cousin in a car accident, not the same level as you but the sudden loss is difficult. A lot of shock, denial, confusion. I don't think you need to be strong for anybody. Being able to cry and grieve with her family is important for you and them I think. In my experience you take turns being the strong one. I hope time will heal your broken heart.
Forced to endure, what I cannot forgive.

John - I've had some crappy things happen to me too....I quit trying to figure out why...lean on your support group and the people in this forum...as people have said, time will eventually almost heal your wound. I hope you someday can think of your soulmate and smile, rather than cry.

How horrible for you and her family. I'm so sorry for your loss. I've lost both my parents. Give yourself time and don't expect anything of yourself for a while. Take time to do nothing. You do not have to meet anyone's expectations on how to react and deal with this.
