And that's the main reason I've decided not to go to a show even though I work only one block from the NJPAC.

Have fun those of you that go. I hope your seat location is idiot-free.

Another reason to have 10C-only shows...I'm guessing most Ten Club members know when to shut their traps & are pretty good at having some semblence of class. It's evolution babeeeee

actually, I think the crowd at Berkeley 2 (non 10c show) was better than the crowd at Berkeley 1 (10c show) ... and I'm specifically talking about the folks in the 10c seats.

Having to stop ARC .... that's embarassing.

One thing I do not thing he's tried .... is lifting up the set list and telling everyone it is finalized ... it's done ... there will be no changes, so screaming out songs is useless. Perhaps THAT will get people to calm down a little.

Unfortunately, the big issue, people want to be a part of the show ... not just at the show ... so they can get hte boot and say "listen, at 10 seconds into "I'm Open", you can hear me scream! That's me!" .... yeah, that's just great, indeed, I can hear you ... but you ruined the song, you lugnut.

Yeah, this is the musician that is most respectful to his fans...

The man is not a demi-god and if you all think he is not banking some serious coin off this tour, but doing it for the good of the world, you have your head stuck where the sun don't shine.
I love Ed as much as anyone, but give me a break with the incessant whining and self righteous posting about how you are a more respectful fan than the ones that were yelling and that makes you one of Ed's buddies.
This was not directed to the person I quoted, btw.

dude, so fine it was directed at me because I said he cares about his fans. I think he's "banking coin." Never said he wasn't. Never said he was a "demi-god" either. But point being it's not just about respecting ed either. How about respecting the fucking other 2,499 people who paid $83, some of whom traveled, around you? I take it as a measure of how bad it was that ed said those things you quoted. Honestly it kinda surprised me he used such harsh terms, but dude, THAT'S HOW ANNOYING IT WAS. The person on stage couldn't get through a song. ALSO we've "known" Ed for 17 years- he stutters. It takes him a while to choose his words and get out what he wants to say. This is not news. Why do people have to be so f-ing impatient and while he's talking just start yelling like monkeys over him, finishing is sentence, yelling requests. Why did you pay $83 if you don't want to hear the person on stage. idiots.

You have to realize, this is not cheering, applause, etc. It's people who have been drinking for hours who want the entire theater and ed to hear them yell shit. They think they're funny. They're taking advantage of the fact that it's a quite situation and not a normal rock show. And it's ALMOST all guys. I was with my mother and she pointed that out ("why are all these men yelling like little girls at a teeny bopper concert?")

And I also don't think it's non fan club members. I was in the fan club seats and someone directly behind me was one of the major perpetrators.

It makes me sick to read about all of these drunk assholes that just seem to care about themselves. Having no respect for Ed or your seat mates that may have traveled long or short distances to see an intimate show irritates the piss out of me. If you do not understand this than you are part of the problem and not part of the solution. I can only hope for a respectful Milwaukee crowd, traveling from Colorado and being the only time to see Eddie solo, I would hate some to have assholes inadvertantly cut the show short because Eddie is pissed and would have potentially played a couple more for a respectful crowd. Sorry I am done.

  • you guys do realize, that when we're 88 and 90 years old, with our asses parked in the Vitalogy Nursing Home, there's still going to be at least one old friggen' geezer (who's been in the Ten Club for at least 60 years) among us who's going to be all hopped up on Geritol and stool softeners, waving his tri-pod cane or walker around continuously yelling until his partial plate comes flying out of his mouth hitting one of us in the back of the head right? (nice run-on sentence) ;) and Ed will be up on the little gazebo-pagoda (next to the bingo-ball machine of course), yelling back at the old codger and waving his tr-pod cane or walker around telling him to 'shut the fuck up'......right?

maybe a little, but i remember seeing neil young solo, acoustic at the orpheum in boston about 10 years ago and they literally had someone come out before he went on and they said that the set list was finalized and to please refrain from shouting out requests...and still people were yelling out for songs, although it wasn't anywhere near as bad as last night though.

and to the people that didn't go to the show last night, but are going tonight...trust me, you'll understand after about 10 minutes how annoying it is.

    multiple free shows every year.
3-3.5 hour shows every show. (one year at bonnaroo, they played a 6 hour set)
pre-sale of their albums to everyone for $12-$14 (including live shows which are always 3 discs)
along with the pre-sales of their last album, people got a laminate that allowed them get onstage at shows from jan. to april to sing backup during the first song of the encore (that's the only time it's been known that they've repeated the same song more than one night in a row).
every band member mingles with the crowd at some shows before the show.
had fans make videos for any one of their songs on the album "the conch". winning video was used by the band, winning fan got a shitload of stuff, including merchandise and show tickets.

and it's not just moe. that does things like that. there are a ton of bands out there that are very, very fan friendly. and again, i'm not saying pearl jam doesn't do things for the fans. they do. but to say they do more than anyone ever in the history of rock........nah.

Well I buy it. period. a slightly shorter set (2 hours for 1 guy) and a ticket price to cover the cost of touring and playing theaters makes someone not care about his fans? I shouldn't put any other rock stars down-that's not what I meant there are some good ones out there. But there's something sooo cool about eddie. I just buy that he cares about not only being a good person, but also doing his job right and appreciating the people who appreciate him.

lol, you quoted my post and in it, i had said "i'm not saying he doesn't care." jesus, you people love twisting what someone said to make it fit to your liking. sure, he cares about the fans. sure, the whole band cares about the fans. but more than anyone else in rock? that's what i'm arguing.

i disagree. sure, pearl jam is bigger, but aren't thier fans so down to earth? i know the guys have sat and talked with fans after shows and out on the street. are you saying it'd be a different story at a show? why? can't these hardcore fans control themselves like they would if they saw them anywhere else? christ, they're only people, right?

i've been a fan of pearl jam for a very long time. i've only been following moe. for 8 years now. i see huge differences between them. not how much they seem to care about fans, but how much is done for the fans. to me, moe. does more. and again, i'm not saying pearl jam does nothing. and i'm not saying they don't appreciate their fans. all i'm saying is (to me) moe. does more.

YOU CANT COMPARE MOE TO PEARL JAM.. PEARL JAM HAS SOLD 50 MILLION RECORDS, THEY ARE ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LEVEL... MOE HAS TO BE THE WAY THEY ARE OR THEY WOULDNT HAVE ANY FANS...

CMON... GIVE ME A BREAK... PEARL JAM WAS VOTED THE GREATEST AMERICAN ROCK BAND EVER AND YOUR COMPARING THEM TO A JAM BAND WHO HAS A FOLLOWING OF 50,000 PEOPLE... ITS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

i do respect MOE>.. but they are on different levels... and my point is that for the LEVEL PEARL JAM Is on ( which is one of the greatest bands ever) They DO WAY MORE FOR THEIR FANS THEN THEY NEED TO and then any other COMPARABLE BAND.... ie THE WHO U2 i can name all of them... Bruce Springsteen and DAve matthews are prob the only 2 bands that are close to PEARL JAM as far as the fans go but PEARL JAM is better

Man what a tool. U should of just punched him.
  • "Security" actually tried to kick the loud mouths in the Mezz out a number of times, but security consisted of two older gentlemen, who told them if they didn't sit down (they were blocking the view of numerous people behind them), and stop being beligerent, they would be forced to leave. They didn't comply, despite security repeatedly visiting them with the same threat.

It was actually a little embarrassing for the security guys, as they were unable to control the situation.

Finally a Boston cop swung by, said somthing to the offfenders, and they were quiet as church mice from then on.
