First off, sorry if this has been posted before. I haven't seen it on here. This is Mike, playing with Star Anna and her band covering Eric Clapton's Layla. It is unbelievable, you have to hear it to believe it

Thanks, that was great! Haven't seen that before.
What was up with the dude who popped up on stage half way through, hugged Star Anna, then stayed the rest of the song? It was like an SNL skit waiting to happen. Him swaying back and forth, constantly talking to Star, pointing at the guys like "you da man!", then grabbing a drumstick at the end and twirling it! Like a bad car wreck, I couldn't take my eyes off him!
I had to back and watch it again just so I could focus on MIKE!! 8-)

That does it. I never understood the love for Star and this finally convinces me to say something. Mike was awesome. This would have been better without those weak vocals. Some of you would like Elmer Fudd singing if someone from PJ was standing off to the side. That was the crappiest vocal I've ever heard.

Glad to have heard Mike do that. Wish PJ would do this and hear Ed do his version. But, please, Mike What the hell are you wasting your time with Star for?

I know. I'm ready to be chastised. Ruined a perfectly good instrumental. :fp:

In fairness I think the audio is pretty bad. What's scary is I believe Mike is only getting better and better. :o

 keep looking.... It's crap. She has no soul, and if she wasn't standing next to Mike none of you would be wasting your time.

oh man, I thought the exact same thing. At first I thought he was with the band, or at least was a friend of the band. But then Mike starts giving him looks, like Who the hell are you, what are you doing here, and then get the hell out of here. I think he was a bit concerned for Star anna's safety

Edson, I hope you're gonna cover my back here... ...because I've got to be honest and say this REALLY doesn't work for me. I've never been a fan of the song in the first place- I'd rather hear E.C. with Cream any day. To my ears, this version is not an improvement. But hey, like I've said elsewhere, we all have different tastes so if it works for others, go for it. In the meantime, I'll pass on this and wait for Mike to make the next record with PJ.

"The dude" is a very very good friend of Star's and Mike's and everyone else onstage. Sean P. Bates. He's an awesome awesome guy and he had been onstage earlier singing. And I guess this was one of those "you had to be there" moments, because it was pretty magical to see and hear all this happening! It was a great night! :D

I'm on board. Had high hopes but heard her stuff and just didn't like it.

First of all, it's a derek and the dominos song from 1970... not an eric clapton song. Give credit where credit is due.

Secondly..the cover isn't at all bad! I would love to see the people that hate try to sing it themselves. Such harsh criticism that isn't warranted, IMO!

I think most people who know and love the song Layla know where it originated from.

    Good call- that's the group!

I don't see anyone expressing hate here so much as "it just doesn't work" for some of us. Speaking for myself, I don't "hate" any music because music is creative and hating something creative seems like sacrilege.

Oh, makes sense then. You gotta admit, watching this video, if you have no idea who he is it seems like a stranger who happened to jump on the stage. Thanks for clearing it up!
