Pearl Jam Android App - Permissions?

So there is a free Pearl Jam app for Android in the Marketplace, but the permissions include access to personal info so they can read your browser (they can track every single URL you visit and read your history and bookmarks). What are people's thoughts on this? I don't see why they would want this kind of access. I'm hesitant to install unless any of you fine folks can shed light on this and the app itself. Thanks! :)

Research the writer. If he/she is part of a bigger company that has alot of other apps then I wouldn't download it.

But if this is the writer's only app then I don't think they are looking to track data by targeting such a small and specific sample of people.

My guess is that coding is a side project for them and that they don't even know they are requesting that permission.

Thank you, that was good advice. It's made by SWMobile, and they make lots of apps, including several for Chris Brown - that right there is enough for me not to trust their intentions!

Well I was just kidding with the Chris Brown jab (kinda), but the concern with permissions that grant the app makers access to your phone at various levels is that they use that info to spam you and your phone's contacts. And even to hack your passwords and stuff, which can lead to real trouble I.e. they then hack your PayPal account and spend your money, etc etc. I'm always really wary and ask questions about apps that have permissions that grant them any actual access to my phone aside from the very basics. I guess I'm kinda dumb to have not considered checking out app makers' "profiles" so that's why the above about that was very good advice!

Ps- I'm using my phone now, so your avatar photo is really small so I'm not sure... is that OJ Simpson??? Or just someone who looks a lot like him in a little hard to see photo?
