Really like listening to this instrumental right now. I'm guessing this must have been recorded during some studio sessions or practice or something? Sorry, haven't seen the movie so was speculating.

I don't believe it's a different session or practice, I think it's the exact same track that's on Binaural, just without the vocals.
yeah thats what i thought
At first I was thinking that it was kind of a waste of a track, since it is just a track we already have with the vocals removed, but I read in the liner notes that it was used to score a part(s) of the film, and I guess it makes sense as an addition that way. I mean, it was kind of cool to hear, but it's not a track I'll be revisiting often, I like Ed's vocals on that song a lot.

Well, if it were a new instrumental I might go back to it. I don't have a problem with instrumentals in general, but just taking a track that I've been listening to for 11 years, removing the (beautiful) vocal track and presenting it as an instrumental is something I'm not really interested in. They did something similar on Beatles: Anthology 2. One of the tracks was Eleanor Rigby, just the orchestra and no vocals, which I considered to be kind of a throwaway track.
But like I said, it makes sense to put it on the soundtrack since they used it to score PJ20, so I'm not complaining, it's just not something I'll be listening to all that often. Now "Of The Girl" on Binaural, or one of the various live versions from over the years, I'll listen to that all day. My favorite tracks so far is "Nothing As It Seems" from Key Arena '01, and Mike's acoustic performance of "Given To Fly". Which is instrumental I know, but it's a new performance, not just a album track with the vocals removed.
I agree with you here. It's cool to hear the instrumental track. And, I'm curious as to how it'll play in the film. But, it's not my favorite track on the album.
The acoustic instrumental Given To Fly is really good, though. Plus, I can sing GTF in the car without that pesky Vedder guy stealing my thunder.
Me too - Glad I got windscreen insurance!

100% agree. The Benaroya Hall version is fantastic. That is one of my all-time favorite shows to listen to. Loved hearing it live in Toronto 2009 but nothing compares to the opening of Benaroya Hall!
