haha awesome guys just awesome. I was on the floor on Stone's side and was hoping for that song all night and figured shit, that's a plenty big enough sign...they'll have to see and it hopefully consider it. But man, it was still a long shot especially as the show went on. But shit, there was a whole bunch of us in my section who, when Ed starting talking and aiming at your general direction, starting shouting brain of j and hopping around like idiots b/c we had a feeling it was coming and it was gonna be your request and no other. What a killer song and awesome story for you guys. congrats!!

First, thanks for all of the comments! They've been great to read. I'd like to address a few of them:
mikeyb46: "must have been amazing to have ed single you guys out and play the song !!!!!!" Cardinal: "... and that they took the time to highlight you guys." nevmiles: "I can only imagine getting a song played specifically for you." rodent: "This band really does make our rock & roll dreams come true."
We talked about this the day after. What the band did for us was way over the top. Personally, I felt a little guilty that we drew attention from the band the way we did, even though it was entirely the band's decision. That's not what I was seeking at all.
I can only imagine the people who have been to dozens of shows and followed PJ from the beginning, have waited a lifetime, and haven't received anything close to what we got. Hamilton was (only?) my fourth PJ show, and my brother's third!
I'm reminded of the scene from Wayne's World where Wayne and Garth bow down before Alice Cooper: "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" I now completely understand what that scene is all about.
cincybearcat: "Hope your signs didn't block people's views. I hate signs. But they can be used politely sometimes."
According to the Copps Coliseum seating diagram, we knew that we would be very close to the front, even though the tickets said Row 10. Otherwise, we wouldn't have bothered bringing signs because of the reasons you mentioned.
On top of that, it worked out even better because we were on the railing, and the railing was well off the floor anyway. All we did for most of the time was hold the signs against the rail. The highest we lifted them was up to our chests, because there was no need for them to go higher. And I don't think anyone complained when Eddie asked us to lift them up high!
Everyone around us was on board with what we were doing. Had we received any complaints, we would have taken them down for sure, because we would hate the same thing. Especially if they had no chance of being noticed anyway.
Also, if I wanted to take a video or a picture with my camera (a pet peeve of my own), all I had to do was sit down and put my camera on the rail. So the people behind me probably loved it when I was busy taking pictures.
pineapplesandwaves.: "I noticed your sign, as well as the sign for Smile."
There were several signs that we saw as well, including the one that said "Smile" on the floor. There was actually one of a smiley face on the other side of the floor, too. Smile would have been great to hear!
There was a neon green sign that said something like "Eddie #1 Better Man" that was in the middle of the section almost directly across from where we were. I forget when, but Eddie definitely pointed to whoever was holding it.
Eddie ended up with a cloth sign that was an invitation for drinks at a local bar, too. I think it was the Flamingo or something. We laughed when we saw that one, and it was cool how Eddie took it from them.
Can anyone confirm if Eddie or the band were spotted at any bars in town that night?
This was one of my favorite songs of the show-- FOR SURE!! I have a fairly decent pic of you guys that I took from across the stadium when Ed started talking about your signs that I'd like to post here, with your permission. I can email it to you as well if you'd like
CONGRATS!!! Hamilton was an amazing night for a lot of reasons, but Brain of J was fucking insane and I couldn't have been happier they played it! THANK YOU!!!
