Just having him show up and actually do the entire show without having a snit fit would be a banner performance at this point.
I completely agree, it's such a disregard for the fans. I think he tries to act like that under the guise of artistic but it's not as we all know. I always wished he would have somehow grown up as I go back awhile with their/his music. It is disrespect and even somewhat abusive / dangerous to the people at the show. Thank god for PJ, sorry Axl I found a Betterband, now if only Rhianna would listen to some PJ

You are missing out. He's happy and on top of his game. The band he's assembled is top notch. Slash is good, don't get me wrong, but you wouldn't miss him.
I saw them at Roseland and its one of the best shows I've seen in a while. They just rock. I'm sure the smallness of the venue and being 6 people from the stage helps. But, it was 10 times better than I even hopped for.
Holding on to past ghosts will lead to regret. If you get a chance to see them on this club tour, do it. You won't be disappointed. I think I paid $96 and 16 of that was TicketBastard charges. That's cheaper than most other arena shows, let alone club shows.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

Point taken, like I said I like Chinese Democracy and have seen them many times before in the late 80s & early 90s. I think the last time I saw them was in 92 or 93 at Giants Stadium with Metallica & Faith No More. I hope to make it ultimately as the Electric Factory, where he's playing in Philly, is 4 blocks from my apartment. I have a strong feeling I will be there.
Just got back from the Silver Spring show. I have a meeting with an advisor at school in 6 hours, so I bailed at the end of Knockin' On Heavens Door
The show impressed me much more than I thought it would! For a 50 year old, Axl's voice is pretty darn good! Band was great, too!
Still wish I would have stayed for Paradise City...one of the first songs I remember ever knowing, I used to sing this with my dad when I was little (and whenever it happens to come on in the car when we're together!)
"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

Never mind Paradise. You missed Nighttrain, Madagascar and Patience? (assuming set list was similar to past) What would 5hours Vs 6 hours have meant? Paradise is a little like YL. It's awesome, but bittersweet because you know the night (or morning in this case )is ending.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
I saw them at the Ritz in NYC last week - it was awesome. Axl is one of the best frontmen of all time. At 50 years old, he was sprinting around the stage all night and his voice was spot on. They played for 3 hours and 15 minutes. The new band is tight musically (and probably plays the old songs technically better live than the old band ever did). Having Welcome to the Jungle, It's so Easy and Mr. Brownstone as a 1-2-3 punch to start the show was EPIC.

It's not really a big deal. I'm excited that I got to go to most of the show, that I had a great view the whole time, and that I got to go for free. I was really tired by the time I left, and have a lot to do today including a very important advising meeting and babysitting kids. So at 2:30, when the show was supposed to end, I was conked out.
The fact that I left 45 minutes early is the irrelevant part--the fact that GnR killed it in my opinion and I got to go to a great show overrides that 100%

Free is good. I was just giving you a hard time. And more about the Paradise comment then anything.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
If Axl actually changed the name they would be playing at high school auditoriums.
You're always good for a laugh. Nobody's fooling themselves. I'm glad they kept the name, so you don't have to reference both. They are in fact G n' R as much as ever. But if they called it Wheels' Axl, it would still be the same music. You seem to be one worried about labels. Most folks don't worry about that stuff.
You don't like G n' R to begin with, so why do you care? Your loss. Our gain.

If they did that sort of tour in the UK I'd be there no matter the cost,( but i wouldn't pay E-Bay prices) providing i could get a ticket. I saw them in 2010 in Manchester, and yes they were late on, but well worth the wait, and as someone mentioned earlier slash is great ( and the rest of the old band members for that fact), But the band he has is amazing, in some ways it sounded heavier than in the past, but that could just be me.

Do yourself a favor and catch them on this club tour. I have no doubt it will change your mind.
I had so so much fun at the concert the other. Axl really kicked ass, felt like I was back in high school again. I just had so much fun singing the songs with Axl and the crowd that I forgot about all the bullshit of the last 20 years. So so glad I went, thanks for the tip.

see, thats the thing that pisses me off, people can like or dislike any bands they want, and people have the right to free speech, but sometimes, just sometimes i wish all this G'N'R hating would go away. its getting old now.
and feel free to slag me off, I can take it.

I think I get what you're saying. You're saying hate them if you really think the music is bad but just hating them because they're GnR based on tabloid reports of Axl's behavior might not be a good way to judge their music or now live act. I try to judge a band on their music and performance as much as possible and not get caught in the the he said she said bull.
I too was angry at Axl when he cancelled the Philly show in 2002 which resulted in riotous behavior in which some fans could have got seriously hurt. And also his behavior at the Metallica show in Montreal in the 90s. We always knew he was troubled which made much of his music relatable to our early teen angst.
But I absolutely loved the show and music the other night and hope that Axl allows his performance and music to speak for him. He may have a ways to go before everyone forgives but he is certainly on his way.

Thats it exactly, if your not a fan of the music, thats cool, but if your hating just because its the trend, thats whats annoying.

It's actually kind of funny. Because in the scope of relevance, PJ is STILL well behind G 'n R (PJ is by far my favorite. I'm just pointing out the humour in some of the posts).
Also, regarding the having to play clubs instead of arenas (and not by choice as it is) - Chinese Democracy has far outsold Backspacer. Even after all those years and personnel changes. If PJ went away and came back with Ed, Boom and 4 other guys, how would the record sell?
Anway, none of this is about talent or music or anything else. As I said, I love PJ much more than G n' R (though the experience is so much different that it's comparing pineapples and Red hots). But, some folks need a reality check when they make some of the comments they do.
To me G 'n R, Black Crowes and PJ were the heirs to the Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones and The Who, respectively, legacies. I'm not equating the talent (hell, PJ is no Who). But, their place in their generations and musical style. The latter were introduced to me in my childhood by my older brothers (along with many others), the former were introduced to me directly in High School and College and seemed like the (almost too) perfect segues.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

He's fine with cameras these days. Most people have their phones up recording during every show and he's never said anything about it.
