It was nice to see it performed in Philly, 10/31... but yeah I agree, I was a bit embarrassed for Jeff too, it's not the best song, but that's why it was an outtake. It was still cool to hear it played live, but I do tend to skip it whenever it comes on the stereo.
I can tell you that when they played Sweet Lew at Philly IV, it was cool b/c they were playing crazy shit. When they played it at MSG II, it felt like the air went out of the building until it was over.

Kind of agree. It was definitely played as somewhat of a joke. Eddie dribbling the basketball will forever stay in my mind

Everyone is entitled to their opinion...
If you are a fan of 70's funk, hoops and Jeff - this is his anthem to the star that let him down.
As a Knicks fan, to see Jeff bust this out, wearing Reed's jersey - at the Garden - after Black Red Yellow + Ed bouncing the ball as another instrument - well, the energy where I was at (floor - mid right) - was off the charts!!!
I know I'm in the minority, but I love Sweet Lew, and it was awesome to get to see it live.
THE HATE FOR SWEET LEW IS MAKIN' ME BLUE
Thanks, didnt know this, so thats why Jeff plays basketball during this song.

i have to say i never liked it all that much until i saw it live, with ed dribbling the ball....
i dunno about it taking all the air out of the room at msg..where i was sitting (standing) people were diggin it.
i thought it was great...i wouldn't say that the vocals are amazing (sorry jeff, i just like your other stuff a lot better when it comes to the vocals)
but its a fun song, and they make it even more fun with the b-ball.....
i was wishing i was the one who caught the ball at the end of it all at MSG.
to each his own, right?
NOW...who will i see at tres mts philly?

the live versions were funny, great to see the band have a breather and just have some light hearted fun
i don't get all the hate for it, it isn't their worst. or if it is, i still like it
which says something for their catalogue
Thanks, didnt know this, so thats why Jeff plays basketball during this song.
