From a boot perspective...I'd say Mansfield Disc 1 Acoustic set and Philly 2005. From being there...State College (Which isn't really east coast) and tthe 4 Philly shows last year. From a crowd perspective....Spectrum 2003 and most of the MSG show. Setlist wise...Philly 2005 and the 4 Philly shows.

boy, do i have a shitty story about that show
here in boston they played a second from 5 songs and you had to name all 5
i hear them, write them down, call my brother at work to see what 5 he thought it was
we agreed mine was the 1 and both called at the right time
    i could not get thru
but i'm driving around , trying to get thru, and i hear on the radio they had a winner
they say - ok we got dave on the line (my brother is george)
dave , where are you callin from
    he says - concord
weird, i think, cause that is where my brother worked
he names the 5 correctly and says
'oh man, i can't believe it, my buddy just left work and left me this list and said to call"
he says "george, we got it"
    my brother was that george
    they had a blast

I was all four of these shows too and yeah...they were great. But I'd put the 2005 Philly show over all of them.

  • For me it would be VA Beach 2000, it was the first show since the tragedy occurred and it was a super emotional show. The guys were clearly working out how they were feeling coming back onto the stage, the show came to a peak with Daughter/It's Ok (much better than the Jones Beach version IMO) and then continued with a great sense of celebration of life. A fantastic show.

hey instead of starting a thread I'm just going to ask my question in this thread (a bump if you will :D ):

did they play Madison Square Garden in 2005? In the tour section here it has it listed but no setlist/songs! was it cancelled? mistake? I never hear anyone talking about it..
    thanks!

i have to agree, u always hear about the Jones Beach Daughter (which was more polished)- but I love this one...out of all the PJ shows I've seen that one stands out... i remember going to check out the venue the day before and we got to hear a really long sound check...

thanks. anybody know why it's listed?
I vaguely remember around the time after Lost Dogs came out that there was an advertisement in NYC's Village Voice newspaper for a show. I remember it was black and had the skull and crossbones. wonder what happened????????

I've been to some really good shows, but the best one still has to be Randall's Island 9/29/96. My first PJ show, three hour set, amazing.

Right behind that one would be Mansfield 7/11/03 and Jones Beach 8/24/00. Seeing them play the post-Letterman set in the Ed Sullivan Theater in 2006 was pretty special, too.

    NY 9/29/96; NJ 9/8/98; NY 9/10/98; NY 8/24/00; Mansfield 7/2/03; Mansfield 7/11/03; Boston 9/28/04 (VFC); Post-Letterman, NY 5/4/06; Boston 5/24/06; Boston 5/25/06; Mansfield 6/28/08; Mansfield 6/30/08; Boston 5/17/10; Dublin 6/22/10; Alpine Valley 9/3/11; Alpine Valley 9/4/11; Worcester 10/15/13; Worcester 10/16/13; Brooklyn 10/18/13; Philadelphia 4/29/16; Boston 8/5/16; Boston 8/7/16, Seattle 8/8/18, Seattle 8/10/18, Boston 9/2/18, Boston 9/4/18

    quite a few missing
    starting with 9/29/96, 9/11/98, (7/14/03 tied with 4/30/03), 10/1/05, 5/12/06

    8/24/00, 6/27/08, 10/30/09 were already mentioned
and Newark was my favorite of 2010 (but Cleveland also got a kick ass show!)

basically, my favs tour by tour going back to 96-I dont count 7/11/03, that was a special show, kinda like benaroya
