HA!  That's funny!  Were there any fans left for that game?

He may have been the only one.

Ketel Marte for AZ.  Anyone see what he's been doing all year?  Completely under the radar.

Check him out.  He filled in for the loss of Goldie in a big way.  His team stinks so no one cares.

Acuna left with Hip Tightness...  I really really hope he gets shit together and steals those 3 bases.  It will be immortal if he does.
For about the first 3 months of the season, I kept thinking it was Starling when I was looking at stat columns.  Cubs got all their Dbacks games out of the way in April, so I had no inclination to pick up on him then.

Ryan Braun hit his 3rd career grand slam in the great american ballpark tonight ... which got me searching for which player has the most grand slams in an opposing teams field when I stumbled upon this fun fact:  A-Rod has 25 grand slams against 25 different pitchers.  That is an impressive stat that I'm surprised doesn't come up more often.

It's one of those "dumb stats".

The only really cool dumb stat that I liked is Stan Musial's hit total for home and away games.  Look it up.  You'll see why.

    Twitter question

If you create a team out the Yankees and Astros, could they beat a team out of the rest of baseball?  Let's say a 7 game series.

    F it, I say yeah

    F it, I say yeah

Assuming everyone is healthy and I can have for example:

    Trout OF

    Yelich OF

    Bellinger OF

    Abreu 1B

    Marte 2B

    Bogaerts SS

    Donaldson 3B

    Realmuto C

A starting 4 (since its a 7 game series) of Ryu, deGrom, Morton, Strasburg

Not gonna bother with assembling a bullpen, but I like my chances.

The Yankee Tralfazes would be using exclusively HOU starters I assume.

    This weekend we rock Portland

So this is what I would do.

    OF judge
    OF stanton
    OF Springer
    1b gurriel/DJLM
    2nd altuve
    SS Gleyber
    3rd Bergman
    C Sanchez

    yes, Houston’s top 3 then severino/happ.

    yankees bullpen plus osuna

    No Scherzer or Kershaw?

I'll take the Yanks as the assembled team won't gel on a short notice.

No 40/40 year for Acuña. Braves have shut him down for the last 3 games. He's expected to be ready for the playoffs. Finished with 41 homers and 37 stolen bases. It's unfortunate that he couldn't get there, but it was still an amazing season for him.

I hope he strives to purposefully get there next year. Get the SB's first.  The HR's will come.

Yeah, definitely get the steals first. If you look at his game logs, he only had something like 13 steals before the All-Star break. Part of it was that he was hitting cleanup for about 25% of the year and it wasn't part of the offensive strategy with the other big bats around him. I think after moving to lead off, he was given the green light and really took off later on. If they keep him at lead off next year, he might be able to get to 40, although I imagine more teams will be more aware and try to hold him close to the bag.

For a while it looked like there were around ten players that were going to break 50 HR this year and a few that had a shot at 60 ... heading into the final weekend, only Alonzo has eclipsed the 50 mark and only one other player, Eugenio Suarez (49) has a shot at joining him.

I'm pretty sure at least 10 of Suarez' HR came at the expense of the Brewers ...

Trout and Yelich got injured. Stanton missed 90% of tbe season. Judge missed a good amount. Gary Sanchez and Edwin Encarnacion as well. To name a few.
