I'm not too familiar with deadspin. how credible are these types of stories?

also, I need a cliff notes version. that's a lot of stuff to look through

Deadspin is pretty legit. These docs are real. From what I am getting it seems the Pirates can spend more and made $30 mil last year. Not bad for an owner with an awful team.

I think there will be more of a summary posted later.

yeah, that's not bad at all. I'm sure florida isn't hurting either since they just had a new stadium approved.

Here is a bit of a summary of the documents if anyone is interested. Fixer, you will like it. Sounds like The Biz of Baseball will breaking it down team by team this week. This is pretty fantastic. There is still one more team that has yet to be posted it sounds. Would love to see it be one of the giants in baseball but doubt it.

Ha, yeah, that would be pretty funny. They don't have room for him with Berkman though.

The changes Granderson made seem to be helping a bit, hopefully he can get things sorted out for next year.

Sounds like it's Boston. That would be strange.

Does this man really take himself seriously? Is this a fucking joke? He calls himself a journalist?

A lot of reporters have used text messages and emails when getting answers from sources. Players often refer to media as buddy, Jeter does it all the time for many members of the New York media.

I don't know dude. They whole "buddy" thing seems completely self serving to me. I am sure Damon said the same thing to ed price, but he reported it professionally. He could have simply said Damon not sure instead of Damon called by buddy, he is such a nice guy.

maybe, that's the problem with getting our news on twitter. If I see the article and the word buddy is used in describing Damon's reaction, I'd have no problem since you'd think he's quoting him directly.

Pujols and Votto are both making a strong run at the triple crown right now.
I think one of them may do it.

Thank you for everything you have done for this sport!!!
not to mention the chance of having ryne sandberg take over

Most people are saying he would have the job if he was gonna have it though, right? Maybe the new ownership isn't keen on him or maybe they just wanna chat with him more or somethin.

Lotta risk for ol' Ryno too. If he fails(especially with their payroll) he's prolly not gonna be Chicago royalty anymore.

Went to the game last night with my kids. Toni still isn't fully recovered from our car wreck so I've been trying to get them out of her hair as much as possible.

Pretty good crowd for 1) Wednesday, 2) School is back in session, 3) the Cowboys are in the middle of pre-season which usually relegates the Rangers to the back page, and 4) we have had an unbearable streak of 100+ degree days this summer. Almost every day in August was 100+. It was 107 on Monday where I live. It was 111 at my office. 111 degrees!!

All of those things usually conspire to keep people away from the Rangers Ballpark. Those combined with the fact that the Rangers are usually 10 or more games out by now.

    Not this year.

While suffering through some pretty tough injuries lately, the little Rangers have taken the first three of four from the Twins. 4-0, 4-3 and 4-3. Three tremendous games against a tough team who have been battling their own injuries. And Cliff Lee starts tonight. Respect to the Twins though. I've always been jealous of them and they way they have handled their team.

A cold front came through Tuesday night. The best part about the game last night was this: In the 2nd inning, the PA announcer came on and said "Welcome to the Ballpark, I would like to announce the game time temperature is 78 degrees!" 30,000 people went nuts! It was a perfect night.

The closer we get to September, the more excited I get. This weekend against the A's is huge. A chance to put them away for good.

I know all you guys from Boston and New York and other places are used to this. But as a long suffering Texas fan who has had to deal with a lifetime of losing combined with oppressive weather, I am loving every pitch and every at-bat this season.

    Go Rangers!!!

I watched most of last night's game and Monday's game on the baseball package. It's nice to see Texas do well. Also did I hear right that the new owners lowered some prices of things such as parking, concessions?

Yeah, that was the first thing they did. Across the board price reduction on concessions, souvenirs and parking.

Oh, and they implemented a Blue Light Special a la K-Mart. For one inning they flash the blue lights and announce the special. Last night it was $4 beer for one inning. Hilarious. Half the stadium got up and headed up the aisles to concessions!

that's pretty funny. never heard of a team doing that.

I keep waiting for CJ wilson to run out of steam and he keeps shutting teams down. He has thrown way more innings this year than he ever has in his career.

Yeah, that was the number one concern about him. That and the fact that he is a complete goofball. But we love him. LOL.
