"Shops, a car wash and churches"

A few strokes of the mind
and streets appear,
cars gently bumping into people
smiling faces stabbing each other
men talking about committing flawless murder
flowers breaking thru the pavement
then scorched by the sun
modest girls getting free unlimited ice-cream for a favour
they’re down on their knees for all to see
shops, a carwash and churches
all that meets the eye
there’s a clown with a lollipop
humping a screaming lipstick smeared heartbeat beauty
look, a butterfly just flew by a cats nose
and look, the cat caught it
playfully killing it
there are dogs in a kennel
eating each others faeces
slurping tongues glittering in the sun
a mind piercing cry out emerging from a basement
father’s educating son
mom’s getting ready to cook up
dinner at the ocean view cafe
coffee as thick as gold
every sip an enigma
and the waitress’s having a hand up her skirt
smoke’s surfacing from my lungs,
a few strokes of the mind
and the street disappears.

I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
