Eels album is just fantastic... thanks for the older albums you supplied me with via the old MSN a while back ;)

as for others... Dead Weather obviously.. everything the man touches turns to gold.

scottish band i discovered via Spotify called Broken Records are just genuinely amazing... they are reminiscent of Arcade Fire and yet they are quite distinctive... give them a free go on Spotify if you can be arsed Dave... i reckon you'll dig them brother.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

aye... i just can't burn anything... i listen to stuff on Spotify and i have to admit its saved me a holy fortune. Pay the £10 a month subscription and i get no more ads... it's a double-edged sword though cos i cant listen to newer stuff in the car.

what you reckon of Gaslight Anthem? any good?

  • Did I hear right that Elton John is on the new AIC album. Is it covers or new music?

IMO save your money. I feel the same way about the White Stripes and the Dead Weather bored me to tears. I know people think Jack White is the greatest thing since sliced bread but he's gotten a little boring and redundant to me.

To add to albums that haven't been mentioned...
    Communion Soundtrack Of Our Lives
    Broken Soulsavers
New Susan Marshall - not sure of the title
My Jerusalem - Without Feathers EP - love this EP
Don't think anyone said Silversun Pickups - Swoon. Really good record!

    Of course Ten-Redux Collectors edition.

I can't wait for Backspacer - seriously, it's driving me insane.

The Dave Matthews Band - GrooGrux King is pretty good.

311- Evolver, is hit or miss, but it's got a couple of good tracks on it.

Mono - Hymn To The Immortal Wind is a really good album from start to finish.

Jonsi&Alex - Riceboy Sleeps, the singer from Sigur Ros and his boyfriend doing an ambient album. Really atmospheric and well done.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Official Score - I know this one is out of left field but I love film scores (not to be confused with soundtracks) and this one is really dramatic as well as melodic. If anyone recalls I also really liked the first Transformers movie score, so this one is pretty much a given since it's a building variation of the first one.

Also, like Backspacer, another album that I'm really excited for is Idlewild's new one, Post-Electric Blues, due out in October. I'm willing to bet that it will be on my finalized Best Of 2009 once the year is up.

I feel like I'm forgetting something or someone. Maybe I'll remember it later.
    It's all about the music...

I dig the newer WS stuff, though Icky Thump was a step back from Get Behind Me Satan and I dislike DW very much. The Racs aren't too bad, just not as good as they should be.

I loved the title track from Icky Thump, track 1 I think, and then the album was a huge let down from then on. I haven't listened to Icky Thump in a long time but the first and only time I listened to the Dead Weather I thought the two albums sounded very, very similar.
