The Chronic

Not a fan of the blatant and unrelenting mysogony of the record and rhymes, but undeniably one of the most important hip hop records of all time.
Dre, Snoop, calm and relaxed long beach beats and rhymes and the ever present synth tributes to P Funk

From the late 70's to the early 90's.
Since then, it is dominated by bling bling chick banging morons, not about the message anymore.
I prefer modern rap by far. Run DMC, Tribe Called Quest, etc... they had their moments, but they're all to the best hip hop what Buddy Holly and Elvis were to the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. I respect what they did and their contributions and trailblazing, but they were stepping stones to help form the genre that later artists took to much greater heights. Artists like Snoop and Dre, Nas, Wu Tang, Common, Kanye...
