The Mountain Goats

Let me take a moment of your time to acquaint you with one of the most prolific and intelligent songwriters of our generation, John Darnielle... I recently got into The Mountain Goats quite heavily and they(he) are easily now my second favorite band behind Pearl Jam... I found this quote recently about JD and his music...
"John Darnielle’s stock of wit is the modern-day equivalent to Poor Richard’s Almanack. Playing in various incarnations with the Mountain Goats (of which he’s the only constant), his songs fit snugly into the finicky underbelly of sophisticated folk music. They’re eccentric gems he uses to work out his lyrical muscles—concise tunes with matter-of-fact lines that tell simple but captivating stories, steadfastly proclaimed in his geek-who-lived-to-tell wail. Though the Mountain Goats have gotten more professional over the years, abandoning their beloved lo-fi aesthetic several albums ago, the main attraction is still Darnielle’s passionate, detailed and vividly cinematic writing; if it hadn’t been so intriguing from the get-go, no one would’ve bothered listening to all those boom-box-recorded songs." - Steven Bevilaqua
Because I'm lazy and didn't feel like posting multiple youtube links I'm posting a playlist someone made on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... tain+goats
If you like folk, or folk-rock, lo-fi or just insanely amazing lyrics you should check them out.

I like the mountain goats and although i don't fall over for John as much as others do I will admit he is quite a tallent. The only full album i have is Tallahassee.
What would you suggest as another one to check out if I wanted to give another album a try?

Also, thanks for the reply... I knew I wasn't going to get many replies here... which seems odd because everyone here has reasonable music taste.
Thanks. I remember almost getting the sunset tree when it came out. I might take a stab at that one in the near future. Right now i have a few albums i got recently that i need to spend some time with before moving on.
