alot of african and middle eastern/indian music whose languages im unsure of
theres something nice about not understanding lyrics... the vocals really become another instrument in the mix instead of getting caught up with following along

Sigur Ros - Icelandic/Hopelandic(?)
but mostly Portuguese (brazillian). Artists like Os Mutantes, Marcio Local.
I'll agree with Kilgore_Trout (great username by the way), it's a different experience to listen without understanding the lyrics.

The Super Furry Animals are great. However, I find that I have a hard time listening to the songs they do in welsh. Maybe it's the language isn't as melodic as others? Those songs are a lot more challenging.

I'm not sure that it's down to the Welsh language being less melodic. Could be, I guess. You might just be missing the 'singalong' factor that you normally take for granted when listening to songs in English?

Well, compared to the Brazillian artists I mentioned above (Marcio Local, Os Mutantes), I find those songs to be much easier to listen to. Good point in that mabye it's the song style though, the samba/bossa-nova 'fits' the language. Maybe it''s that I'm not used to rock songs in another language, listening in a structure that I'm used to but a language I'm not. Maybe it's just Gruff's voice, but I love to listen to him sing in english, his accent on english in songs is pretty cool and makes for interesting phrasing.

(It's the song off of Guitar Hero III)
...and wow, I thought I had more than that in my library. I do have some other foreign bands but they're in that whole electronica realm and, with a rare exception, the songs don't have lyrics. And when they do, the lyrics are usually in English.
As Welsh is my first language, I can assure you that SFA's Welsh songs are of the same high standard as their English ones!
But, I know what you mean. I find it very difficult to enjoy music when I don't understand the language.
My ex-girlfriend is Portuguese, and she was always trying to get me into Brazilian music. I could enjoy it up to a certain point & enjoy the feeling of the music, but them I just wanna know what the song is about!!! Quite frustrating.
So I can definitely understand what you say about not feeling SFA's Welsh songs.
It's a shame really, cause the Welsh language is much more poetic than English for example. Has many fewer words, and so you have to be a bit more clever in how you use them!
Good see see some love for Gruff & the boys anyway. I'm off to see them play again in October. Be my 5 show. Quality band.

Yes. In fact, I often have to play music with foreign language vocals. French, German, Russian, Czech...
Czech sounds awfully good and the words don't sound like you'd expect them to by looking at them.
which also begs the question....how can a song without words be about something specific? weird.
i get grooves
Anything spanish....(Salsa, spanish Rock,vallenatos,merengue,regeaton etc..)
Sarah Brightman when she sings in Italian, french,Latin.
Laura Pausini (Italian & spanish)
I guess if you let me hear any music in a different language I will listen.
