Thom Yorke - New Moon

I didn't see this posted so I thought I'd throw it down, from Pitchfork:

"According to the film's director, Thom Yorke really did write a new song for the soundtrack to the Twilight sequel New Moon.

New Moon director Chris Weitz confirmed the news in an interview with HitFix.com that took place at Comic-Con. According to HitFix, Weitz will get his first listen to the track tomorrow. "Unless it's sounds of him belching, I think I'll put it in," Weitz said. To be honest, there probably is a market out there for sounds of Thom Yorke belching.

Oh and guess who else wrote a new song for New Moon? Bon Iver! "He says he wrote it for the film, but who ever knows if it might just be something laying around in his cupboard," said the director.

Wow."

I'd like to hear some of the radiohead fans reponse to this. I would be mortified if pearl jam or ed attached themselves to the shit that is Twilight. Quite possibly the worst piece of popular fiction in recent memory.

I don't see the problem, it's not like Thom's in the movie. "15 Step" was in the first one, and nobody cared. I also think the director must have a lot of friends in the music business, because he also got Bon Iver and Band of Horses to write a song for it, and he might get Kings of Leon. Looks like the soundtrack is going to be the best part of it.

I don't think anyone should criticize any of the band members in Radiohead of "selling out", especially after they released their last album online for free! ;)

selling out is an old term that needs to go away. musicians need to make money some how. people are not paying for music like they used to. i've probably paid for about half the new albums i've gotten this year. maybe less. i am sure there are some that haven't paid for music in years.

oh and when was the last time you really watched Singles? that movie was definitely no academy award winner but 2 of pearl jams BEST songs are on the soundtrack AND they were at the height of there popularity AND the internet thing was practically non existent and file sharing was probably a dim lightbulb of an idea someone had.

radiohead has probably been on TONS of movie soundtracks (romeo juliet, choke - just to name 2 ive watched recently)... dont think its a huge problem... i understand it financially

that being said... im rubbed the wrong way thinking thom was "inspired" enough by this POS franchise to take part in it with original music

but any new music from him is good news

This may be beside the point but Thom Yorke is a funny motherfucker. One Radiohead concert two days before the album came out he says from the stage: "Everybody's saying "Great record". Its not even out yet!"

Whoever above me said "selling out ain't what it used to be" is dead on. Who gives a crap. Its new Radiohead/Thom Yorke. And that's not a bad thing. I'll download it for free and tell him how great it is two days before!
EDIT: Oh yeah, I'll never see the movie either.

"Exit Music (For a Film)" was on the soundtrack as well. In fact, it was written for the movie.
