He has such a great body of work, and has never really done anything to tarnish his credibilty.

My favorite songs:

TVC15
Look Back in Anger
Scary Monsters
Stay
Andy Warhol
John, I'm Only Dancing

way too many great songs to list!

    I've said it before:

    David Bowie is the first artist I really loved. He turned me on to real music.

    Thanks.

    There's a constant ringing in my ears
    Sense of humor's void and numb

    Grudingly went to a Bowie gig in the '80's. Dumbstruck, live, he is up there with the best!

    Underrated? Who says? He is very talented and many people hold him in high esteem for his body of work, including many artists who list him as an influence. I grew up listening to his music.
    R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.
    R.i.p. My Dad - May 28, 2007
    R.i.p. Black Tail (cat) - Sept. 20, 2008

    Underrated in the sense that he is not mentioned in the same breath as The Who or the Rolling Stones.

    I saw him a few years ago at the Area 2 Festival...he was second-billed to MOBY!

    yikes! second billed to moby? omg!!!!

    bowie has an incredible career. made zillions of dollars. played for millions of people. has albums that still stand the test of time. of course i could go on and on...even the reality tour was a major success!

    check this discography list...
    Studio albums
    * David Bowie (1967)
    * Space Oddity (1969)
    * The Man Who Sold the World (1970)
    * Hunky Dory (1971)
    * The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (1972)
    * Aladdin Sane (1973)
    * Pin Ups (1973)
    * Diamond Dogs (1974)
    * Young Americans (1975)
    * Station to Station (1976)
    * Low (1977)
    * "Heroes" (1977)
    * Lodger (1979)
    * Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) (1980)
    * Let's Dance (1983)
    * Tonight (1984)
    * Never Let Me Down (1987)
    * Black Tie, White Noise (1993)
    * The Buddha of Suburbia (1993)
    * Outside (1995)
    * Earthling (1997)
    * 'Hours...' (1999)
    * Heathen (2002)
    * Reality (2003)

    i hope to see him live again soon. one of the greats for sure. the only reason why he probably doesn't get mentioned in the same breath as the stones/who is because bowie is not a band.
    in fact, it's even more impressive that he doesn't have a band, and yet he still reaches the levels of success that he does. pure talent.

    I think he is SLIGHTLY underrated in the sense that he (like Cat Stevens or Lou Reed or maybe Iggy Pop) are not really household names. In general if you ask people if they like/know Bowie chances are that they won't really know his stuff UNTIL you play them some stuff. I'd also like to add that I was just saying this to my gf that not only is he one of the most brilliant artists/songwriters of the past 40 years he also remains current, relevant and just plain cool. I mean we are talking about a contemporary of the Beatles, Stones, The Who etc yet he has aged well and doesn't seem like a joke. He has been consistent and has never really disappeared.

    so yeah i can see how he'd be considered underrated.

    I dig Bowie, but someone posted this over in the porch and it just had to be brought here:

    indeed, that was me ... in the "worst video ever" thread.

    I'm a big Bowie fan (thus, why I posted that video, just a disaster).

    My girl would leave me for David Bowie and not think twice about it ... she loves him.

    Always the #1 rumor in the "Who's the surprise act at Coachella this year?" discussions ... waiting ... waiting ... waiting ...
