What I like about The Fixer.......

In baseball terms, this song is the equivalent of taking a BIG cut at a pitch..........
But I don't think it is about just trying to knock it out of the park. I think it is more so about not holding themselves back.
PJ has always been reserved in moments like this in the past. We all know this is something that the band has avoided throughout their career. These are different days now, and if the band is comfortable with this, then I say more power to them.
A lot of people on here are upset w/ the overall direction of The Fixer..........but I look at it this way: it seems that they are no longer overly concerned with stereotypes/labels/boxes. I'm glad that they have unapologetically released a fun, hook-filled song into the world.
For PJ to release such an uptembo and optimistic song as the lead single for Backspacer, it just shows a lot of guts. I have to say I am happy with this.....it is cool to see them paint on their canvas with less reservations.

Pearl Jam "pop" is a hell of a lot better than Jonas Brothers "pop"

Come home from the fair. Yes... the tune is catchy, but I'm really digging it and I hope the rest of the album offes some similar stuff.
For those that hate it... go listen to your Binaural and continue hating Jeremy, Corduroy, I Am Mine, blah blah blah.
If I'm a member of Pearl Jam and reading these forums with some of these absolutely stooopid critiques... I'm thinking some users of this site can shove it up their hairy arses. Don't buy the album if you think the song sucks or is "just too poppy for my really sophisticated musical tastes".
What exactly do you want from the band?
