And U know this.....

If they released Got Some as the first single and had The Fixer as a non -album B-side, everyone on this board would be saying that the Fixer is the best song ever and that it should have been on the record. Instead, people here are pissing and moaning that PJ has lost it and that they will never listen again and that Target wrote the song and that Pj is just performing it. Relax people, its just a song...2 minutes of drum, guitar and voice. Not the end all be all that some of you put in a PJ release. Relax, the sun will rise again and the fixer is not gonna fix all your problems and pull America out of the economic downturn. Lets all breath and listen to Yield. God Speed.

You can't really be serious about this. You really think it matters to people what the single is? what the b-side is? what's popular? what's not? what gets radio play? what has a music video? If the song is good I like it and if the song isn't good I don't like it. I don't like The Fixer.

Hey, I love it. I just don't see people would be psychological loving this but are prewired to hate lead singles. If it was released as a b-side the haters would still hate the song, because they don't like it.

Agreed, its an ok song. Its not Imagine by Lennon but it is not hanging tough NKOTB

Its a rework of unemployable and it is who PJ is today. Not great but not dog meat.

That's what I'm talking about. I'm talking about you and your thinking that it being a single matters.

its just people's opinions... we should just get on with it. Personally I love the track regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Thats all that matters, everyone is not going to like everything. I like it, and I am OK with people that don't.

Thats not the point of the post, its the fact some fans on here would like it more if it was a non album b side...thats the argument.
  • the fact (of my opinion) is, when I first heard it, it was a bit of a letdown. But to say that PJ fans dislike something merely because it is a first single is insulting to the fanbase. We're a bit more intelligent than that. Give the general PJ fan a bit more credit, thebible. Comments like yours are a cancer on message boards.

Really wouldn't matter what Pearl Jam did. Isn't going to make everyone happy. There's some that like/really like this song and there's some that hate/really hate this song. No point in fighting over it.

    Can't please everyone!

But yeah, I liked Got Some more but I don't really hate this song I enjoy practically any new Pearl Jam music (especially when it's different). :)
  • yeah, that kind of sarcasm and negativity. it's annoying to say the least. And just to clarify, I didn't say YOU were, I said your COMMENTS were.

Well said Mate but thats not the point. the point is PJ fans would like this song more if it was a b side. im telling ya. its true. U would have been a bust but because its a b side..its a rare gem

And yes, I completely agree with your regarding the comments about Ed's supposed weight gain. I thought that was childish and stupid. Completely agreed.

What if Santa Cruz made the cut and was released the first single - what would we be saying today?

The Fixer would have been appropriate as a B-Side, probably even a track on the album that's NOT a single. But by god, a single? To me it screams DON'T BUY THE ALBUM!

    my point is proven. thanks
  • I'm quite relaxed, dude, and I didn't hit you with a personal jab. And I already answered your question. I said I didn't much care for the song, but it has nothing to do with it being the first single. I have actually LOVED the first single released on most of the albums. So there goes that theory.

I think you might have a point if you were referring to the casual PJ fan. Most PJ fans that I know, couldn't give a rats ass if a song is a first single or an unreleased b side. It's judged on the merits of the song alone, not the status the band or its management gives it.

no dude, you say that people who don't like the song would like it if it was a b-side. OceansJenny said it would be appropriate to be a b-side because it's not a good song.
