    are you fucking crazy?
    seriously have to disagree here.

i understand you dont like WIlco....but you dislike them so much that you would rather listen to fucking creed on repeat?

Yep! Listening to the waves crash the rocks by the ocean sounds so much better then anything i've heard from Wilco. I so wished Death Cab For Cutie opened for Neil Young here in Halifax, then Wilco. Sorry! I'm so amazed this band has made it this big. :?
Depending on my mood, I think the waves crashing over the rocks by the ocean sound better than even Pearl Jam sometimes. So serene and peaceful.

a source from within has already thrown a tease out there with regards to the 8:00pm start time of the Philly shows, so it might be safe to assume we won't be seeing an opening band at these shows (hoping for much of the same at the Toronto and Chicago shows),...

OR it could very well be a special guest worth being in the seats at 8:00pm for!

Yeah I think that barring an announcement stating exactly who this guest is, it would be a very safe and wise bet for people to be in their seats for that 8 pm start time. These Philly shows have special significance, and I wouldn't take the chance of strolling into the Spectrum at 8:45 and missing something unexpected!

man i hope you are joking!

i was actually trying to think of someone *cool* to be a special guest....like bruce springsteen or somethin'. haha.

i still rather have an evening with pearl jam!

sleater-kinney were a cool band.. This is what I mean about Pj fans attitude towards more indie bands like sonic youth and SK. I'd say someone like Bruce Springsteen though.

I really like Sleater Kinney, have several of their albums ... but, if you listen to the Fortunate Son cover from Mansfield 3 in '03 ... Corin Tucker made many ears bleed that night with her vocals.

That said, I don't think it's them ... I'm guessing it's either a Philly band, or PJ tie in (like Soundgarden), or someone off the chart huge

In a Philly-themed rock spectacular, Pearl Jam will invite Philadelphia legends Patti LaBelle, Will Smith, (reunited) Dead Milkmen, Hall & Oates, The Hooters, and (the surviving members of) Robert Hazard and the Hero's to the stage.

The crowd will then regurgitate their cheesesteaks...
37 PJ Shows, 3 EV Shows, 1134 Total Songs, 24 Different Openers, 9 Different Closers, 252 Unique Songs (never enough)

    indeed, i agree!
didn't the OP...or someone, show a 7:30 PM start time? i've read here about an 8 PM start....but i also thought i just saw, somewhere here, anyway....a 7:30 start. either way, i am there. like to see if ed does a preset, and always up for checking out an opener.

i am actually wondering/thinking....if this 'special guest' will actually BE an opener, or simply join pearl jam for some tunes? and i may be reading too much into it, but it does say 'special guest'....not guestS...individual not plural...so i am thinking one artist. and yea...i am hoping someone cool...... 8-)

    yep....in the OP:

Springsteen isn't playing on the 30th & won't play again until November 2nd in DC. Bruce's ties to the Spectrum are very strong so it wouldn't surprise me if he was the "special guest",especially if this is the last show & there is no show the 31st. He & Eddie sounded great together at the Meadowlands for VFC & Better Man sounded phenomenal with the E Street Band!

does he have any ties with philly/the spectrum?

i think i am one of the rare few pearl jam fans who is not a neil young fan. i actually love many of his tunes, just not with him singin' em. :D

i also know i was one of the rare few who decided to forego the toledo show in 2004 and was ultimately thrilled that i didn't drive that far for that show.

i am not a huge bruce fan, tho i love some tunes.....but if we're going with someone *big*....i think i'd enjoy him with pj more.

3 more months and we'll see!

Read the link below.I would so wanna be at these two shows, but i'll be at the philly shows. :x :D

It will either be Springsteen or Neil Young.
More than likely The Boss, since he's free the 30th.
Neil is playing the 30th,so i don't see him at the spectrum on the 30th.
Neil could show up on the 28th or 31st possibly :o:o:o:o:o:o : :o:o:o:o:o:o;)
Maybe even U2 could show up :o;)

    what he typed !

considering bruces vast history with not only philly as a whole , theres the spectrum / chimes of freedom connection, as previously typed, along with bruce maybe owing ed one based on the 10-13-04 appearance and eds " im just an employee he's the boss " statement along with playing a few of Bruces songs witrh e street, but also turning around and having a full e street band , sax and piano solos and all, for Better Man .

however its too good to be true
why wouldnt it be gomez here also?

Hmmm....PJ isnt playing in Philly the 29th....so would they show up at that Rock and Roll HOF thing?

Also, U2 is in town...PJ and U2 played together in Hawaii.
Neil is in town, Bruce, Dylan.

i point once again to the OP.
it clearly states "pearl jam & special guest"
they are on the same line, so that does not signify 'opener' necessarily.....simply, a special GUEST.
and again, given the nature of this show....a 'big name' really is not outside the realm of possibility, especially if philly and the spectrum hold meaning for them. just sayin'.

oh well, crap...so much for that theory.
    all on one line?
i honestly don't remember. usually tho, opening bands are listed UNDER the main acts name, thus why i was/am thinking it does not necessarily signify this 'special guest' as an opener. however, i do still kinda stick with my initial assessment that 'special guest' means just that - guest - singular.
