PJ + NIN
I just relized this: Pearl Jam is playing the United Center in Chicago on Aug 23-24. Then Nine Inch Nails is playing their last two shows in Chicago ever at the Aragon Ballroom on Aug. 28-29. Luckly I got fan club tix for both PJ and NIN.
Could this be the greatest week of music ever? Pearl Jam and then NIN's final Wave Goodbye stop before their last shows in LA!!!

Supposedly the NINJA 2009 (Wave Goodbye) was the last of it. Then TR said it didn't feel like a goodbye tour and scheduled 10 more shows in smaller venues in NYC, Chicago and LA. These are supposed to be (for real now) the last of live NIN.
I was lucky enough to get tickets for Webster Hall in NYC, love the venue and can't wait for it!!
It is their last show in Chicago, then they play their last 4 shows ever in LA.
TR said its his last tour ever, but Im sure we will see NIN in the future. Im going to guess around 4-5 years later.
8/23 Pearl Jam (Chicago);
8/24 Pearl Jam (Chicago);
8/28 NIN (Chicago);
8/29 NIN (Chicago);
9/5 NIN (LA);
9/6 NIN (LA--last show ever--hope not!);
9/19 Alice in Chains (Chicago);
10/9 Pearl Jam (San Diego);

10/31 Pearl Jam (Philly).

I wouldn't count on it. I am friends with the tour manager and he said he doesn't want to tour anymore.

I read somewhere a couple days ago that he didn't want to do the long tours anymore.. NIN may still pop up at festivals & such, but he's got other projects (non-music) he wants to work on that he's been putting off for years. The long tours don't allow any time for anything else.

and how to do it right

I got tickets to the show at the Palladium. Wasn't what I was trying for, but I'm incredibly happy just to be able to see them one more time!
My concert schedule for the next few months is going to be insane!:
8/20: Tracy Chapman (fiancee's choice)
8/25: Green Day / Franz Ferdinand
8/28: Outside Lands festival (Pearl Jam!)
9/2: NIN
9/30: Pearl Jam (fan club tix)
10/1: Pearl Jam
10/6: Pearl Jam
10/7: Pearl Jam
10/18: Treasure Island Festival (Beiruit, The Decemberists, Yo La Tengo, Bob Mould, etc.)

if he wanted to "sucker" people into buying tickets he wouldnt be playing a 600 person venue for the last show and clubs along the way. he would be playing stadiums and charging $100-$500 a ticket (KISS, the Eagles and the Stones come to mind).
and he is charging about 60% of what PJ is charging per ticket on this tour.

im sure it will be extremely emotional.
I didn't mean "sucker" as in ripping people off, just in getting everyone to believe him. I know Trent's not about the money, I just think he got burnt out on putting so much stuff out there so quickly and that he'll get back into his "once every five years" routine that he stuck to earlier.
Trent changes his mind, and he also says what he thinks at that particular moment. That's the way he is. I guess people could skip the shows if they weren't convinced they were the true written in stone last ever shows. We just know he wants to get out of touring,for quite some time, but I am confident that he'll be back in some other incarnation at some point in the future. I loved the NINJA shows and still hope to get to at least one of these smaller shows. I'm fine with it - you either get Trent musing in real time and changing his mind, or you get Pearl Jam who really don't ever say anything about what they're planning, future-wise, and I can see why - people hold bands to whatever thinking out loud musing that might have come out of their mouth as if its written in stone on the ten commandments tablet.

Hey so how many are doing both PJ and NIN in Chicago and staying the whole week? Anyone want to split hotels and stuff? My friend Sarah is coming in for both and looking to share costs on the usual stuff. And there's a slight chance that I'll be doing the same, although it appears that I will stay in NY for the NIN shows instead of Chi. Let me know
