    Life Wasted
Oh, Life Wasted is another song for me that I didnt like right away either. But I really enjoy it now. And LW is an example of a song that I started to like once I heard it live.

On the other hand. I really liked the studio Inside Job, but dont like it live. It just comes accross more bland live than it does on the disc.
really,??,i love it from 1st second..

    Cropduster

    Ghost

    Get Right

I used to skip these every time. Personally, I don't like the flat picking melody on Cropduster, Ghost is overly repetitive, and I think Stone is being lazy on Get Right during eV's verses. Where's the great riffmeister?!!

Now I listen to them every time. Something finally clicked and I appreciate them for what they are. It's odd though. I liked No Code straight through the first time I heard it and that was a serious departure for the boys. I wonder why Riot Act never sunk in?

  • severed hand...when self titled dropped i didn't like this one at all....but after seeing it live a few times..it has grown on me!

a lot of their material is an "acquired taste"...very few songs do i fall in love with right away...usually when i find meaning in the lyrics...or open myself to a song by not having expectations, just letting the music define itself...that's when the magic happens!

when Binaural came out i listened once and that shit collected dust for a long time..till i revisited it with a different state of mind and it has since become my 2nd favorite PJ album...it's such a solid album that doesn't get a fraction of love that it deserves! because a lot of the fans have their heads up their asses on that one, like i did years ago.

    Oceans.

I know, you're probably thinking "what the flying fuck?"

I don't know. I can't give you an answer, but when Ten first came out until probably about 9 - 10 years ago it was my least favorite PJ song. I also can't tell you what has change in the mean time, but now I think it's a beautiful song and my only regret is I've never heard it live. Karma's a bitch a guess...

I don't know if I've ever "despied" a Pearl Jam song...but if I have then it was "Help, Help," and I despised it right up until I heard it live in Hershey and it absolutely killed. My friend and I were genuinely shocked by how awesome it sounded.

Oddly enough, I didn't care much for "Why Go" until Lollapalooza '07.

Good thread, I can't say I've ever despised a PJ song, except for maybe Other Side which I still don't like. But I used to never see the appeal to Who You Are. Now I love it; awesome rhythm and further proof that No Code is one of their strongest albums. In my opinion of course.

Vitalogy, except for Not for You.
What the fuck was I thinking? I even like Hey Foxy.
  • For me it would have to be "Thumbing my way" and "Parachutes"

When "Thumbing my way" first came out on riot act I was in high school and it was my least favorite song off the album. But now I've come to really love the song. I think I can relate to it better now that I have a few more years under my belt so to speak.

gotta be "Sad" for me... the studio version just didn't do it. But when I saw it live for the first time (in London, ON I think) I was just blown away.

"NAIS" still just doesn't turn my crank. That's ok though... its my time-to-run-and-peepee song at shows now. :)
