not gonna be in the round. They sell all the tickets to most arenas at the most popular shows...I know MSG and DC last year both had people behind the stage....more like "in the oval", hahahaha..

MSG had no backdrop since there were people behind the stage, so that's probably what it means.
There is no way they are playing in the middle of the arena .. I just don't see that happening.

    it would be really strange...

Neither did I, but I called 2 times to confirm and they even explained it was 20 rows on the floor around the stage and I asked how can they set that up and was told it was off center, WTF that means I have no idea, but I don't recall any floor seats behind the stage at MSG - only been there a few times for PJ. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I could maybe see them consider doing that in a stadium or something, but not a tiny arena in which almost everyone has a good view.

I don't doubt that's how they set up a center-stage show, or that the Spectrum has PJ listed as center stage. I just highly doubt that's correct.

You're correct. MSG is my 'home' venue and when they sell behind the stage for anyone, there is no floor seating. The seating usually starts in the 100 level (there is one level closer to the floor) and security is posted at the bottom of that level between you and the band.

I know a lot of folks are in disbelief about the center stage thing but I think the band is going to surprise us a lot on this tour....

Huh? Maybe I'm misreading/understanding your post, but I've never been to MSG (also my 'home' venue) where there wasn't floor seating, regardless of people being seated behind the stage or not.

Given the historical significance of the venue and the band being "the last to perform there"....maybe they see it as a very special event and are doing something out of the ordinary to suprise the fans. this is a special concert...i believe the in the round setting is going to be great.

Seems likely that they will do center stage since they have done it zero times in their 18 year history. I just spoke to the guy selling VIP boxes he told me that I should buy a box ASAP because............. they are not only doing center stage but they will be using the orignal ring that ROCKY 1 was filmed in!!!!!

He added that Ed will be wearing the american flag trunks and Stone will be dressed as Apllo Creed. This is gonna be the best show eva!>!>!>

if you were told that there wont be a backdrop, then it means its a standard PJ arena show, stage on one end of the basketball court.

"in the round" is what Metallica does, stage at center court, sometimes rotating, with the drummer in the middle and the other members standing on the outside.

im seeing Metallica @ MSG in November and im stoked if the stage setup ur describing is what it turns out to be...i wouldnt mind seeing the same for PJ as long as Matt gets to sing more and/or more drum solos/intros
Yes.. I've seen metallica 3 times on the first leg.. im seeing them again in Albany. Stage in the middle, and Lars' kit rotates..

Sorry - seats on the floor behind the stage. There are always seats on the floor in front of the stage. ;) The question i was answering was if there were seats on the floor behind the stage - which there are not. :)

You have close to 10K posts and a PJ license plate and you live in the north east united states meaning you dont live in bumble fuck USA. Yet you belive that PJ is going to whip out a center stage in Philly for the first time ever because the staff at comcast or wherever is saying it will be so. I dont get it.

that's a good, optimistic perspective on this whole thing!

i too have my doubts about this 'in the round' thing.....but i too did think perhaps it IS because it will be the last show, amke it something really different'special. i HAVe seen a good # of shows 'in the round'....but mostly jazz, and yea, with a revolving stage. it's definitely a cool thing, just not something i ever imagined pj doing, but hey....as long as i can get IN to the 10.31 show...i honestly don't care!

I won't believe this center stage in Philly rumor till I actually see it with my own eyes. But if it does end up being a tiny center stage and they thought the stage was rockin' at MSG 08, they're really gonna feel it this time! :D
