So we plan a trip every year to Philly to watch the Flyers and Eagles......We are all Flyers fans and some are Eagles fans.Pearl Jam Being in town pretty much solidified which weekend we are booking for this year.....Anyway,1 buddy of ours cant go that weekend (he is a S.T.P. fan and has a hate on for PJ) and here is a few tidbits of the conversation....

Friend:
"If that is the weekend that was chosen, then that's the weekend - I just can't go. It's no big deal because I've already gone once this year.

Probably a good thing because I don't think I could handle a weekend dedicated to Pearl Jam. Hearing about the fuckin' Eagles is tough enough! ;)"

Me: "Maybe they will play casino rama one day." (Rama is a local casino just north of toronto that S.T.P played last week that seats 1500 people)

Friend:
"I don't think so. PJ are much too big a band and too relevant to pop culture to be playing such a hole"

Me: "Amen to that"

Friend:
"Anyways, how could they seeing how Cobain is dead...oh wait, I think I'm getting my culturally significant bands confused. Never mind."

Me:
"Yep,you are getting the bands confused....1 band burnt out long ago and the other just becomes more legendary......Cobain has nothing on that Edie Vetter guy....whatever his name is."

He hasnt responded back to the last one yet......anyway,shit like this used to get to me because he thinks he has a clue about music but now i just have fun with it because he clearly dont know. Im sure we all have friends like this anyway.....

just felt like sharing that for some stupid reason.

They are actually from my city- Tallahassee. I remember them back before they went national. I even went to their CD release party- then they made it big. Back then, they were actually good. A very raw sound. The thing that got me, maybe around their 2nd album- they had a contest. Which ever city requested their song the most on the radio or something would get a FREE Creed concert. Some town out in the midwest, maybe some city in Nebraska or something, barely beat Tallahassee out. Tallahassee came in second. What did we get? Basically nothing. They autographed a guitar which the radio station gave away in some kind of contest. And I remember thinking- we don't have to have a free show- just a show period would rock. But nothing. They never came back. But I will tell you something- when the rest of the band minus Scott Stapp formed Alter Bridge, they came back to Tallahassee many times and played some killer shows.

And that's why I hate Creed and mainly Scott Stapp

Oh, and I didn't like where their sound was going after their first album.

    Sorry to hijack your thread

Here is my buddies latest response.......

Do PJ fan club members also believe in Unicorns and the Loch Ness Monster? What a beautiful, utopian place that must be. :)

He didn't confuse the bands in the earlier message,he is just a sarcastic bastard.

Convo w/ my friend (Green Day fan) about ticket prices.

Xbox: So how much are tickets for the Pearl Jam shows?
    Cran: About $83.
Xbox: Wow. Green Day tickets are only $60.
Cran: You get what you pay for, I guess.
Xbox: Yah, right. Be sure to let me know the next time Pearl Jam puts out a relevant album.
Cran: OK, and you be sure to let me know the next time a Green Day concert isn't a daycare.

Green Day also has $25 seats available for their show at in Philly
Obviously Green Day isnt on the same level as PJ but close enough and they can get away with charging so little for seats to their show in same venue?
Here is a bigger laugh, $25 for Green Day tix and $77 for PJ tix at same venue and both for the worst seat in the house is a HUGE difference.
    Whats up tiger lily?

Yah, I like how PJ ticket prices have soared the past 5 or 6 years, while apologists point to acts like Madonna or whatever charging hundreds of dollars. They ignore the fact that big acts like Green Day don't need to do the same.

I am hitting the GreenDay show at the Spectrum on Tuesday. My TM seats cost me $60 (after fees). I don't think the PJ tix are outrageously prices as some are insinuating

  • It pains me to read about Creed, Metalica, STP and Pearl Jam all in the same thread. It just brings back bad memories of near fisticuffs over arguements about those (horrible fucking) bands being compared to PJ. And Creed...good god, don't get me started. THEY ARE A GOD BAND! And that lead idiot went and punched out a member of another favorite band of mine, 311, while he was hammered. That dude is one serious tool.

  • there's only one reason why GD tickets are so much cheaper...

    they sell out!

GD sells their music (like American Idiot) so they can afford to sell cheap concerts...and with the way the record sales are these days and the fact PJ doesn't sell out (or hardly sell out, as of late) PJ has to charge a little extra just to be able to make a decent living

as for the big names that sell out and have high ticket prices...well they're just fuckin greedy...they all have the green disease
