I, and i asume many others are fed up with reading through these forums, and reading nothing much but negative thoughts and comments about pearl jam, so they're not perfect and they don't always get it right(according to you).. but you point me in the direction of a band that is 100% perfect in every way, then i'll eat my words.. until then, we should all be concentrating on all the good and positive that pearl jam brings into our lives ... PLEASE..

Thanks, I agree. It's depressing to read some of the threads. I'm enjoying PJ so much and I'm so happy that they are who they are....

it's either a British/Aussie spelling of 'whining' or that stuff you do in the morning where you grunt a lot.

It's an Aussie word for complaining and I agree that everyone needs to stop and appreciate the PJ.

Brits use it to ... also pronounced differently than whining
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?

YES! I hardly ever visit the forum anymore because it's just depressing reading all the 'I think I have a right to...(insert unreasonable demand here)', 'This band/the fanclub/the universe sucks and why are they victimising ME?!' posts.

I swear it hasn't always been this bad. We used to have more fun, didn't we? Maybe I'm just getting old. Although, technically, shouldn't that make me MORE whingy?

What happened to LOVING the band, people?? Let's turn this into a thread of love and amazingness (why does the cynic in me think that there will be fewer posts in this than in the whingy threads?). Argh, the whingers are sapping my optimism, help!

I certainly DO avoid the ones that are obviously negative. Problem is, for example, I looked at the SPE London thread because I wanted to see how excited people were about the prospect of going to this and half the thread was whinging. It's impossible to avoid. Except by not visiting the Forum, which is precisely why I rarely do. Anyway, I reserve my right to whinge about whinging because I'm pregnant and therefore have no control over my hormones ;):D

    YES YES YES!!!!!!

And please, if I am guilty of whining on this board, in the past or future, send me an IM (or better yet, call me out on the board!) and give me a verbal whipping......

its impossible too most times, you go onto a thread to read what other people's thoughts are, on certain things, and all i read is bitch, bitch, bitch and its getting a bit depressing to read.

now i love this band, and i hate the fact that they've only played scotland twice, but i've dealt with it, no amount of complaining is gonna make the band come back here any sooner, its a sad fact, at least most of you in the usa get to see them a lot more regularly, and should appreciate that. now i'm begining to feel like i'm contradicting myself and complaining, which i'm not trying t do.. mearly stating a fact.

i'd love to be stuck queing for ages, or have crappy seats, at least i'd be getting to see them.. know what i mean.

    anyway i'll shut up now

  • As an American I feel I can say this, we like to be victims. We get comfort from fear and being victims. Maybe its a global phenomenon, dunno, haven't been outside the states.

Yes, I know not every individual falls into this, but I would say it is a cultural movement. Entitlement and the display of that feeling is a very ugly thing. This board has become very ugly at times.

I would argue that you can avoid it. If the first page is full of bitches, go to the second or third and bump up a post that actually discusses something. Or search for a post on something you want to talk about and bump it. Or create a post that discusses something you were thinking about. There are options.

i must agree with you haffajappa, it is very possible to avoid them, and most times i do just what you suggest, but sometimes you just can't help being drawn into what people are saying, curiousity, i know poeple have a right to their opinion, it all good, it just seems sometimes that for lack of a better expression shit happens, and you just gotta get on with it as best as you can, i guess its easy for me to say that, cause i'm an easy going guy... you know what i think i'll just shut up now..

peace and love to you all.. and lets look forward to some rocking shows coming your way if not now, then hopefully some day soon..

sorry, you're crediting the wrong poster :)
i'm merely discussing the pronunciation of this new found term 'whinging'

that said, on topic, there will never be a day where everyone is satisfied, hence we will always see people unwilling to compromise and only willing to complain on this board... their disappointment is understandable... but one day they will learn there are bigger problems than not getting tickets and there are more things in life than pearl jam.
