Careful what you wish for!!! I saw Iggy Pop & Mudhoney open for them in 1998. What a great show. Also don't forget, Bruce will be in the Philly area in late October. ;)

Bruce doesn't open up for people, its the other way around. Only way bruce opens for pj is if him and ed do a small hour long set of pj/ed songs, bruce songs and dylan songs.
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?

Ed used to open for PJ all the time, or at least used to open for the openers. We called them pre-sets, and they were super. He doesn't seem to be doing them anymore. Sad.

hey---just wanted to tell you nice blog! 8-)

    thanks man!

Something tells me that I'll be alone on this, but I actually ENJOY opening bands, as I am a fan of music that isn't Pearl Jam related. When I buy a ticket to see a headlining band, I consider any music that comes before it to be a nice bonus. Hell, sometimes the opening act becomes one of my favorite bands. I remember catching an up and coming Alice in Chains opening for Van Halen. Really glad didn't stay in the parking lot for that one! ;)

I understand that some people aren't interested in anything other than the headlining act. Good for them, and they are free to hang out and pre-game during the opening act's set. I've noticed a good number of PJ fans coming in early to hear an Eddie pre-set, and then bitch and moan that they have to endure somebody else's well played tunes before PJ gets going. Frankly, I find that to be narrow minded fan-boy behavior, but to each their own.

In an effort to alienate myself a little further  , I'd like to add the following: Ed's solo material doesn't do much for me, so PLEASE don't have Ed open the shows in Philly. I prefer to hear Eddie at his best, which happens to be when he is joined by the other 4/5's of Pearl Jam. THAT is when the magic happens.

See ya' all at Philly 1 (a.k.a my "TEN"th PJ show) :D

When they played the Vic in Chicago in 2007 Ed opened. I think he said something like "So..uhhh...I'm the opening act. I came cheap." I think he played about 8 or 9 songs. That was very cool, but regarding opening bands, I think its kind of like when you are in the car on your way to a PJ show and you are listening to PJ.... for some reason listening to a different artist is more fun. Just like having an opening band is more fun. Not sure why.

    Play No Way!
    Good evening...

Fair point, it is a massive bonus to get a great opener or a real suprise, hadn't really heard Kings Of Leon before Melb 06, hoping Ben Harper comes down under this time..
