I don't get it either, i like him and i've seen him 2 times live. However I must say his concerts i think is where he gains most of his fans and the demand to see his shows. I saw the Born in The USA tour and the solo tour and he played for 3-4 hours and the crowd went beeserk! I was offered 3x's what i paid for the BIUSA tour and I sold my other of course.

He's just ok but he appeals to middletown blue collar America and the East Coast. They adore his music and his shows but most times i'll pass.

    To each his own.

Me? I think the dude is a national treasure; some of his music is genius; most is good and his live shows are something everyone should experience.

Yeah, I guess it's just one of those things. Some people just don't get how we can love Pearl Jam so much, yet we do.

Atlantic City is probably one of my favourite songs.

Add me to the list as well. Don't get it..

There are a lot of fascinations I have never understood. Another big one for me is U2. I own Joshua Tree and I think that's all I'll ever need. EVER.

Back to Springsteen...I never really cared to check him out until my girlfriend listened to X's "See How We Are" with me and asked if I liked Bruce Springsteen, when I asked why she said that they sounded similiar. So, I borrowed some from my old man and made up my mind.

I feel the same way about John Mellencamp. :o:o

But neither comes even close to PJ.

Well, like it or not, The Boss will always have a bigger legacy than Pearl Jam.

He's just a national hero of sorts, a product of the times he was living in. I think he's great, and he really seems to connect with people all across the country.

Bruce Sprinsteen is good. Magic was the best album of 2007.

    Agreed.

And the line "Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse" I think is as profound as anything ever put in a song.

seeing Bruce live is what got me into liking his music. Had the Essential disc before seeing him live and aside from a few songs I was like meh. Not sure how it happened but seeing him live was amazing. I finally understood the whole obsession. Now I didn't go out and buy every Springsteen album, but I have a whole newfound respect for his music. Loved WOAD the album was great. Sometimes it takes seeing an artist live to get that extra punch of what they are all about. He does put on a hell of a live show though. Sometimes a dvd or live album won't do justice. Like I said I'm not sure, watched a dvd- was like "cool" but not blown away. Seen him live twice- and blown away twice. :D

I got into when Sirius first had an all Springsteen channel to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "Born to Run". I, too, only had the essential disc and "The Rising". Hearing his whole catalog really made me a fan, just really great songs. I was disappointed by "Working on a Dream". Couple of good songs but a big step down from "Magic".

I've listened to his music since I was a kid in the seventies, mainly because my brother was a fan. However, I find a lot of his stuff since The River to be very chuggalong and pedestrian. He can still knock out the odd good song, but there's too much filler such as "57 Channels (And Nothin' On)" in the meantime.

That's how I feel about "Working on a Dream", "The Wrestler" is really the only stand out track and "Queen of the Supermarket" is in the top five of worst songs I've ever heard.

He hit it out of the park with "Magic" though. That album is solid the whole way through.
