Best live versions of the songs off TEN?

Hey y'all,

I do a weekly podcast for the Pearl Jam fan that features music and commentary -- but mostly music. Anyway, I've only been doing it for about 2 months and I am coming up on the tenth episode. Since it's #10, I thought it'd be a kick to recreate the album TEN with live cuts culled from the last 19 years. I have ideas for some of the cuts, but I'd really like suggestions from other fans.

So, in your opinion, what are the best live versions of the songs off TEN? Any help would be much appreciated. The resulting podcast will then be available here on 7/22 for your listening enjoyment: http://allthatssacred.blogspot.com/ Thanks! :)

Sweet! Y'all are awesome! Keep 'em coming. I'm having less luck with songs that weren't radio hits like Once, Why Go, Oceans, and Deep -- anyone got suggestions for those tracks? Thanks!

Do Oceans from the MTV Unplugged show, but please do the unedited version. It's an absolute killer and would give you something to talk about during the podcast (the personalization of performances).

Also, not to add to the list of Porch suggestions, but the 1992 show from Den Haag, Holland contains an unbelievable version. Those few shows on the European tour in 92 have produced some of the most amazing boots I've ever heard. Sound quality and performance-wise. Check them out if you haven't.

I'd advise Black from any period - from my memory, Black form 06 in Madrid, Brisban, Marseille were amazing, Benaroya Hall is ace too.
    Oceans from MTV unplugged
All the others back in the day, 92-94 years.

In my opinion you need to look to the past to find the greater live versions. As someone suggested, have a look at atlanta april 3rd 1994. Very good recording and the band is on fire! I can send you a download link if you want, send me a pm.

Prefering ten songs from 03, 06 or 08 shows to 92-93-94 shows is to me a big joke.

The only exception might be black.

    Uhhh wtf?

IMO, all the shows post 2000 and waaaaaay to fast and loose the entire groove and awesomeness that the songs were. Plus in the early 90s shows you get all that energy and everything, eddie's voice is waay more powerful and the band is much more alive.

The only exception might be black.

exactly. quit kidding yourselves. it makes you look pretty delusional. Pearl Jam might still be a strong band, but when they perform Ten songs anymore, it just doesn't have the ferocity like it had back in the day.

I'd advise Black from any period - from my memory, Black form 06 in Madrid, Brisban, Marseille were amazing, Benaroya Hall is ace too.
    Oceans from MTV unplugged
All the others back in the day, 92-94 years.
    i suppose u saying Madrid 07..,
u could been here .i could been there
but i wanna be here,FUCK U in there,,,,

    Uhhh wtf?

IMO, all the shows post 2000 and waaaaaay to fast and loose the entire groove and awesomeness that the songs were. Plus in the early 90s shows you get all that energy and everything, eddie's voice is waay more powerful and the band is much more alive.

Yeah, that is my point.. Maybe I worded myself wrong somewhere, but I agree 100%.

And when I mention black being an exception I am saying I can see why some people would prefer the more recent versions. Personally im all for the oldies :D

Black for Berlin 06 is one that caught me off guard. Eddie adds a sweet tag in the end. Definately worth a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mptSle_PgFY

It's funny a few people already said it -- you've got to do Oceans from the Hawaii Dec 2, 2006 show. I was there, and have the official recording from it if you need it - I can send it to you. It was extra special because they hadn't played Hawaii since 1992! (It was also my first PJ show) This was the last show of the 2006 tour (and they were to open for U2 a week later for their last show of their year and a half long tour -- I was there!) The thing is is that I'm not sure PJ would have come here if U2 hadn't been doing their giant show, a show which had been postponed 8 months to December. If that show had not been postponed, I'm not sure Pearl Jam would have been able to come, since PJ only scheduled those shows after U2's show was rescheduled. Anyway, they opened with Oceans for their show, and it completely took the entire audience by surprise (a pleasant surprise, I might add.) It was just special because I guess it was obvious that with a song called Oceans, they were making the show special to Hawaii. I've got the official bootleg to send if you need it!
