i would LOVE to catch PJ at red rocks ~ a total DREAM of mine!
question tho - does red rocks still have concerts in october? what's their cut-off date for shows? i have no idea...
ya know... thats a good point... probably not... if the gorge closes at the beginning of september then im sure red rocks is the same... keep dreaming
The last concert listed on the Red Rocks site is for Sept. 26th: http://www.redrocksonline.com/pages/con ... tartNum=25

    Assuming:

    1) there won't be any shows past September at Red Rocks (looks like the 2008 concert season ended in late Sept.)
    and
    2) there won't be any PJ shows added post SF and pre Seattle

the only logical dates for PJ shows at Red Rocks would have to be between Sept.23 and 29th (minus the 26th since that's already scheduled for Flogging Molly).

The way I look at it, the fewer the shows the better they'll likely to be. The boys are in mid 40's and surely Mike's got to feel it after each performance. Add to this being able to check out new surroundings and I'm cool with traveling to see the band. Obviously if your strapped for cash and can't afford to split gas with couple other fellas that would suck.....but understand and appreciate the guys not wanting to play Black 30 times in a row.

To my Texas brothers that aren't so happy.......they are coming to Austin....yea festival, but will be a blast.

Now if I can only score tix.

To all the negative "fans": Please don't come on this thread and piss in anyone's cheerios. No one cares that you are pissed off that PJ is not playing in your town and it's certainly not cool to say "f them". If you are at that point then don't be a "fan" anymore or please find the "bitching" thread to vent your frustrations (if you must). It would be great if PJ could make everyone could be happy but it's just not possible. Why don't you try to be in a band and do what they do for 20 years while also being true to your family? This is a band who reserves the right to do what they want. It is a business, like any, that can't meet every demand. Please...Let's keep this thread positive.

Remove the organ from your mouth and quit slobbering all over them.

definitely strange though when you compare it to the $25 a ticket AIC is charging... similarly awesome shows from bands with similar roots...

id be more likely/willing to travel to see them if they were still $65-85 a pair
If Layne were alive and well, AIC would be a lot more than $25, the demand for this version is not as high, simple fact.

SERIOSULY... what a joke your gonna compare a $25 AIC which isnt the real AIC to a PEARL JAM SHOW... give me a fricken break... How much you wanna bet AIC doesnt even hit the 2 hr mark for their show??

They were SIMILAR bands in 1992... not in 2009 Buddy... PEARL JAM is now one of the greatest bands and biggest in the world... AIC>.. as much as i like their music... not so much

I am over it now. I was just in a venting mood yesterday.

Thrilled to death they are coming to ACL. I can't wait for thta show. And I love Chicago so that will be great too. Just frustrated is all. That whole 2 shows in LA - ACL - 2 shows in LA is stupid.

Anyway. Over it today. Looking forward to August and October.

FYI Pearl Jam, Mellon Arena is getting torn down to. Not much to celebrate, but just an excuse to play it.

Jesus, Aerosmith still rolls out HUGE tours like this year. Rolling Stones, too. Bruce has more energy than nearly any other band (and still tours relentlessly). Anyone who says PJ is "too old" doesn't go to enough shows, imo.

There is a great scene in "Shine a Light" where a mid-20's Mick is asked how long he thinks he can be a rock star. Im paraphrasing, but he says something like "There is no way I'll be doing this in my 50's!"

I guess what Im saying is that, while the guys are being family men now and are much more so than most of the Stones, it is impossible to predict where this band will be in even 5 years. It may not be 2009, but we'll probably all get our fill over time.

Whoever said the only reason why they play Chicago is because of ED is an idiot! It's only one of the greatest and cleanest big cities in the world! And there isn't any band of any relevance that ever passes up Chicago. In fact for a lot of bands(the WHO, U2, RADIOHEAD) it's their favorite place to play in the world. I'm not sure what ticketmaster your on, but there are absolutely no tix left for Chicago 1, and there are singles left in the last rows for Chicago 2 which will be completely sold out come showtime. Lastly you do realize the UC is one of the biggest indoor facilities in the country holding over 22,000 for concerts. So to sell-out 2 nite's in this economy in a place that I'll admit is horrible for concerts is pretty damn imprerssive.
