NOT AT ALL HAPPY! Just how many times are they going to go to Europe and Australia whilst they ignore half of America? I really feel slighted. Chicago, not my fave city, is the closest they've come to the midwest since 2006. I just don't get it. No Indy, No Cincy? No Cols? No Lexington? NONE? Between their overpolitical stance which I don't agree with and this, I'm really losing interest. I feel that I've been betrayed. How many times can they play in LA? I'm beginning to think they're in it primarily for the money. I used to think PJ really appreciated their fans......... Again, LA of all places? Well, Conan is there now but that's about it.
this isnt a full tour... theyre playing where the money and fans are... add a couple more TX dates and id say theyve done a pretty good job strategically spreading the love... i understand what youre saying cause i wouldnt have the money to travel if they werent playing my hometown... but the fact of the matter is the rest of the midwest is fuckin boring... would you ever want to spend more than 5 min in OH if there wasnt a PJ show there? theyd probably rather play places that fans can plan a vacation around then just play every rinky dink city

LMAO, Vacationing in Philly?

It's not about if the midwest is boring, it's where fans are. 67,000,0000 people live in the midwest and not all of them in Chicago

I know people say that PJ can't really sell out 20,000 seat arenas in the south, but there are plenty of smaller 5,000 to 10,000 seat places they would easily sell out. In Atlanta alone there is Chastain Park, The Arena at Gwinnett Center, the Fox (3 night stand!), The Verizon Ampitheater. They would sell out those places in a heartbeat. Plus, when they played Buffalo in '03, they didn't sell out HSBC and they didn't sell out ACC either night in '06 (maybe they did night 1, but definately not night 2). I think they have no issue playing to a 3/4 capacity crowd. They would still make a shit load on merch. PJ fans by anything with a band logo. I just think they're looking to scale touring back. But, I don't think 9 shows in 4 cities can be counted as a tour. I hope for something bigger in 2010, but I'm cool if it doesn't materialize.

they have turned into Bruce Springsteen. They will only tour 'safe' cities frequently (like how Bruce only plays Jersey now because they are the only people who still really like his music) Pearl Jam safe cities are: Philly, Seattle, LA, NYC, Chicago and Boston. They will tour these cities as much as possible because they know they can sell them out. Like Bruce, they will tour once every 5-7 years outside of those safe cities because they will be able to sell out those places if they come to them less frequently. So expect a date in Atlanta when Eddie is 60 years old
dude bruce has done a world tour every year since 03 get your facts before you go running your mouth
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
Sammi: Wanna just break up?

You know, I have been thinking about it after being disappointed earlier today... and as long as the band continues to THINK that there is no "market" in roughly 40 of the United States, and the longer they stay away from THOSE states, guess what? The next time they try to play in one of those places (let's say on the big 2012 tour perhaps?), there WILL be no market because if you only play once every 10-12 years, people tend to forget about you. You have to appeal to the hard core fans like all of us here, AND to the regular guy who remembers you and used to listen to your older albums but kind of forgot about you until he saw you on the Target commercial.

OR play smaller places. 5,000-10,000 seaters instead of 20K amphitheaters or b-ball arenas. Really, let's try harder next time, Mr. Tour Manager.

I guess I just hear about a Bruce show and it's always in Jersey or NYC.

If Pearl Jam is in the travel business now and only picks places people want to vacation to, why don't they just sign a deal at the Hard Rock or Palms and play Vegas every night? I don't think anyone would have problems staying more than 5 minutes in Vegas

I'm voting Republican in the next election so we get someone in there that Eddie doesn't like then Pearl Jam will tour the midwest again preaching their politics on how it can save the world.

Ed said in an interview earlier this year that there would be no shows in 2010.

Playing 4 nights in L.A. aound the release date will create a good buzz for the album.

Bands usually do underplays (shows at smaller venues) in L.A. and N.Y. for promotional reasons.......doing an underplay in St. Louis doesn't really produce any benefit in terms of publicity, etc.

Bruce has played ALOT of states and cities on his last 2 tours and damn near sold ot every show. So PJ haven't exactly turned into Bruce Springsteen. Bruce has done alot of touring in the last 8 years, but he does a better job of spreading his shows out. His fans know where he is going day of show announcement. He skipped Dallas this time, so my friends called me and stayed here in Houston. they still got a show to attend. Dallas got skipped because he Played Tulsa (since they have a new arena) But a big rock arena in Tulsa is LONG overdue and a completely different subject from this post.

Nevermind

The Wachovia Spectrum (formerly known as the Spectrum (1967–1994), CoreStates Spectrum (1994–1998) and First Union Spectrum (1998–2003) is an indoor arena located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as part of the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. Completed in 1967, it seats 18,136 for basketball and 17,380 for ice hockey, Arena football, indoor soccer, and indoor lacrosse. The building will be closed and demolished following the 2008-2009 hockey and soccer seasons with the final planned event to be a 3-night Phish run scheduled to start on November 13, 2009; afterwards, the arena will be razed to make way for a new hotel in conjunction with the Philly Live! complex.

they haven't even sold out chicago and tons of people are traveling for it. they would do just as well or better at the AA center in dallas. they're already going to be in the state for fucks sake. to say "we would rather play la 4 times" is a fucking slap in the face.

And LA is a small venue at that so that ruins the theory on the amount of equipment/crew, etc.

And yes, you can go to ticketmaster right now and pull Chicago tix.

Very very frustrating.
thank you! they may just listen to you!
I second this, Dallas 03 was the last Texas show and flying to Boston last summer just to catch a show broke my little bank account..

Sorry to be a whiner but no love for Phoenix? the US' 6th largest city yet no shows since '03 ?!?!
It's nice here in the fall. Not like the steaming 9th circle of hell it is this week!!
Come in October you can party with Bono!

Peace,
KJ

I am in Phoenix, too, but I think we will get an added date to be perfectly honest. Plus we now know the dates in LA and San Diego, so ticket deals will come back again, they always do, just keep your eyes open! Plus the drive isn't too bad.

I can't wait until whatever show I can get to! Preferably Philly but whatever works.

Last time (in '03) Ed said it was like trying to sing while sucking on a blow dryer. I wonder if that's what's keeping them away?

The desert is nice in Autumn fellas, trust me!! ;)

My boss already told me no way on days off for LA but SD is doable. I already put in my time off request for 10/9. Was in San Diego last week and it's never a problem for me to go back, I love it there. Driving or flying - it now all depends on me weaseling my way out of a meeting at 10am on 7/15 and getting lucky on the 10C sale. <sigh> I really miss my bachelorette days of hitting 15 shows per tour.

OMG. Whiners. Cali has not had a show in 3 years. We had to fly to see them in NYC last year and it was worth every penny. Now y'all have to come to us. Even Texans are welcome since we know PJ will never play Texas! Get over it. And count on a Santa Barbara gig and the Bridge. Has to happen.

Lots of time off between San Diego and Philly.

Strange.

Released on a Sunday.

Strange.

These are my thoughts exactly. I guess they booked the first show in Seattle and then figured they should release the album the day before?

Just wondering if they will play some additional dates between San Diego and Philly. Someone from Boston, like me, will get tickets to the Philly shows and then they'll announce shows in Boston. . . that would be great! Because if they were all scheduled now, I wouldn't think of making the trip to Philly. Am I a victim of clever marketing? I hope so!
